The defending champions continue to ride roughshod over Group B with another blowout win.
Unbeaten Gran Canaria cruises past Aris, 93-65



Dreamland Gran Canaria kept its perfect record intact, with no-doubt-about-it 93-65 win over the visiting Aris Midea Thessaloniki on Wednesday night. Gran Canaria improved to a 10-0 record, keeping a two-game lead atop of the Group B standings, while Aris dropped to 3-7.
With Aris playing zone defense from the get-go, Gran Canaria hit 6 three-pointers in the first quarter to open a double-digit lead, then never allowed Aris to get closer than 9 points the rest of the way. The hosts blew the game wide open in the third quarter, and cruised to another win. Roko Prkacin paced the winners with 13 points and 8 rebounds. A.J. Slaughter, Miquel Salvo and Ben Lammers scored 11 apiece, while Sylven Landesberg finished with 10 points. Vassilis Toliopoulos scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half for Aris, and Silvio De Sousa was the other visitor in double figures with 10 points in defeat.

Aris started with zone defense, but Slaughter nailed back-to-back triples to get things started. Toliopoulos and De Sousa got Aris going and made it 11-13. Slaughter hit his third three-pointer and started a 14-0 run capped by back-to-back threes from Andrew Albicy and Salvo to make it 25-13. The hosts took a 12-point margin into the second quarter, where Toliopoulos scored 8 points to keep the hosts from running away with it. Prkacin made moves inside that kept Gran Canaria up 41-30 before Toliopoulos and Nicolas Brussino traded tree-pointers. Gran Canaria held a 49-38 advantage at the break.
The hosts used a three from Pierre Pelos and a three-point play from Brussino to extend the margin to 57-41 early in the third. Gran Canaria's defense was forcing turnovers and controlling the defensive boards, as Prkacin and Lammers extended the difference to 65-45. The quarter finished with Gran Canaria holding a firm 72-50 margin and the defending champs were well on their way to another win. The pace and scoring both slowed down as Gran Canaria was closing out the game, but the lead got as big as 91-61 before the final buzzer.
