LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne has strengthened its roster by signing center Joffrey Lauvergne, the club announced on Friday. Lauvergne (2.11 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Zalgiris Kaunas where he spent the last two seasons. He posted 8.3 points and 3.4 rebounds last EuroLeague season after averaging 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds in the 2020-21 EuroLeague campaign. During his time in Kaunas, he helped Zalgiris win the 2021 Lithuanian League championship and two Lithuanian Cups.
ASVEL bolsters frontcourt with Lauvergne
Lauvergne started his career at the French youth institute CFBB/INSEP before playing with Elan Chalon for three seasons. He won the 2012 French League trophy and 2011 and 2012 French Cups with the club. Lauvergne also made his EuroLeague debut with Chalon during the 2012-13 season. He led the EuroLeague in rebounding with Partizan Belgrade during the 2013-14 campaign and also helped the club win the 2013 Adriatic League crown and 2013 and 2014 Serbian League titles. Lauvergne has also played for Valencia Basket of Spain, Khimki Moscow Region of Russia and Denver, Oklahoma City, Chicago and San Antonio in the NBA, and Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul of Turkey. Lauvergne helped Fenerbahce team reach the 2019 EuroLeague Final Four and win a pair of Turkish Cups. He is also a French national team regular and has won a gold medal at EuroBasket 2013 and bronzes at the 2014 Basketball World Cup and EuroBasket 2015.
