FC Barcelona has made a splash by securing the arrival of Nikola Kalinic from Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade on a two-year deal, the club announced on Tuesday. Kalinic (2.02 meters, 30 years old) was one of Zvezda's standout performers in the 2021-22 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season, averaging 12.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 32 games. He also won the Serbian League MVP award en route to helping Zvezda win the Serbian League title as well as the Adriatic League crown.

Kalinic helped Fenerbahce Istanbul win the EuroLeague in 2017 among four Final Four appearances he made with that team. He has also played in the EuroLeague for Valencia Basket. Kalinic started his professional basketball career with Serbian side Subotica and also played at Novi Sad, Radnicki and Zvezda, the latter with which he made his EuroLeague debut in the 2014-15 campaign before moving to Fenerbahce Istanbul the following season. He won the 2015 Serbian League and Cup double as well as the Adriatic League title, and he also claimed three Turkish League crowns and three Turkish Cup trophies. Kalinic also is a regular with the Serbian national team and won a silver medal at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2014 and the 2016 Olympics.
