FC Barcelona got a step closer to the Final Four by downing FC Bayern Munich 77-67 in Game 1 of their best-of-five playoffs series at Palau Blaugrana on Tuesday.

Barca hosts Game 2 on Thursday. Brandon Davies led the winners with 19 points, Dante Exum and Nikola Mirotic each added 12 and Nico Laprovittola scored 11 for Barca. Vladimir Lucic was Bayern's top scorer with 20 points and Darrun Hilliard had 12. Barca led 62-51 after 30 minutes. Lucic brought Bayern within 69-64, but Rokas Jokubaitis and an outstanding Exum stepped up in crunch time to lead Barca to an important victory.

Lucic got Bayern going with a turnaround jumper and matched Mirotic's triple with his own shot from downtown for a 3-5 lead. Sertac Sanli and Radosevic traded three-pointers before Nick Calathes took over with a backdoor layup that brought Barca within 8-10. Rubit hit a floater and Nick Weiler-Babb added a jumper in a 0-7 Bayern run that Othello Hunter capped with a corner triple. Laprovittola and Hilliard each scored from beyond the arc for a 13-20 lead. Exum beat the shot clock with a three-pointer and got help from Davies to get Barca closer, 20-22, after 10 minutes.
Davies kept pacing Barcelona with a dunk and Exum added a wild three-point play to cap a 12-0 run that completed Barca's comeback, 25-22, early in the second quarter. Lucic sank a corner triple, Davies downed a jump hook and Laprovittola added an off-balance three-point play for a 30-25 Barca lead. Zan Sisko scored in penetration, causing the hosts to call timeout at 32-27. Rolands Smits ignited the crowd with an alley-oop basket and Laprovittola added a driving layup, but Rubit and Hilliard kept the visitors close, 36-31. Davies followed a power layup with a dunk and then Laprovittola bettered Lucic's jumper with a triple that made it 43-33 at halftime.
Sanli scored around the basket immediately after the break. Bayern was held scoreless for 2 minutes until Lucic sank a three-pointer. Ognjen Jaramaz also struck from downtown in a 0-10 run that Weiler-Babb capped with a fallaway jumper to bring Bayern within 45-43. Jokubaitis rescued Barca with a corner triple and Mirotic bettered Hilliard's driving layup with his own shot from downtown. Hilliard kept pushing Bayern with a step-back three-pointer which Nigel Hayes-Davis followed with a jumper to keep the hosts out of trouble, 54-49. Davies took over with a power layup and got help from Calathes and Exum to boost Barca's lead to 62-51 after 30 minutes.
Smits buried a three-pointer early in the fourth quarter, prompting Bayern to call timeout at 65-51. Lucic stepped up for Bayern, but Exum ignited the crowd with a show-stopping dunk - a one-handed slam over Hunter that gave his team a 67-53 margin. Weiler-Babb answered from downtown and Hunter also hit a triple to keep Bayern in the game, 67-59. Lucic capped a 0-9 run with a bomb from beyond the arc and matched Jokubaitis's jumper with a driving layup that brought the visitors even closer, 69-64, with over 4 minutes left. Jokubaitis stepped up with an acrobatic reverse layup and Mirotic added a jumper that gave Barca fresh air at 73-64. Exum banked in a running hook and by the time Davies hit free throws, everything was said and done as Barcelona had cruised to a hard-fought victory.
