Tonye Jekiri might not have been the biggest name arrival at Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul this summer, but the center proved he can be a key player with a dominant performance in his debut with FC Bayern Munich.
The signing of the former LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz and UNICS Kazan player did not generate as many headlines as Fenerbahce’s captures of Nick Calathes, Scottie Wilbekin and Nemanja Bjelica, but Jekiri was the top performer in the season opener with 15 points – making all 6 of his two-point attempts – and 6 rebounds for a team-high PIR of 22 in just 14 minutes on the floor.
