FC Bayern Munich forward Elias Harris returned to the EuroLeague this season for the first time since 2016-17 campaign. He made his season debut last week, and previously he had 23 appearances under his belt with Brose Bamberg, but on Thursday night Harris played more than 20 minutes in a single game for the first time in his EuroLeague career. He spent 21:46 on the floor against none other than two-time reigning champ Anadolu Efes Istanbul, finishing with 10 points – the fourth time he scored in double figures – as Bayern recorded its first win of the season.
A fan favorite in Vitoria-Gasteiz, playmaker Pierria Henry made his second home debut at Buesa Arena in Round 6, 17 months after his last home game in a Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz jersey. The Baskonia guard was very effective with his 15 minutes on the floor against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, as he came off the bench to make the only shot he attempted and dish 8 assists, which was tied for the most assists in Round 6. It also meant he had one assist every 1 minute and 51 seconds he was on the floor. Henry clearly didn't need much time to get on the same page with his teammates, some of whom he played with before, as Baskonia broke a 20-year-old single-game scoring record in its 116-87 win.
Filip Petrusev won the EuroLeague title with Anadolu last season, his first in the competition, but he returned to his hometown of Belgrade this summer in search of more minutes. He got that in Monaco on Friday night, putting in a very impressive individual performance during Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade's 85-77 defeat. Petrusev scored 16 points, one shy of his career-best, while he posted career-highs in rebounds (12), offensive rebounds (6), assists (4), PIR (27) and minutes (28:32). Zvezda lost its fifth game of the season, but got Petrusev to show what he is capable of.
Edgaras Ulanovas is a do-it-all guy for Zalgiris Kaunas, and on Friday night he played the role of scorer. Ulanovas finished with a team-high 21 points, one shy of his career-high, as Zalgiris put together a massive comeback, rallying from a 20-point deficit to beat ALBA Berlin. The Lithuanian team has now recorded third home wins in as many games, and Ulanovas did his part in only 22 minutes on the floor. He made both of his two-point shots and knocked down a career-high 4 triples for the first time in 241 EuroLeague appearances.
Nico Laprovittola has a knack for performing at his best in the biggest of games, and he did just that on Friday night at Palau Blaugrana. The visit of the undefeated Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul is as big as it gets for a Round 6 matchup, and Laprovittola starred for Barca by tying his career-high of 26 points. Barcelona guard drained 5-of-8 three-pointers, and he also dished 7 assists and made 2 steals. Barcelona ended up needing every one of those in an 81-80 win.
Jonah Mathews and David Lighty each scored a team-high 16 points to lead LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in a 19-point comeback win at Virtus. At halftime, EuroLeague rookie Mathews was sitting on just 3 points, and Lighty had just 5 on his tally. But the duo combined for 24 points in the second half, as ASVEL rallied to seal an improbable victory. For both players, 16 points was a season-high. Mathews finished the night with 4-of-6 made triples, while Lighty was 3-of-3 on two-pointers and 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Lighty also had 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals to his name.
