His career-high 35 PIR – the highest of any player in Round 16 – exemplified the type of impact Flynn had on the victory, with Bahcesehir remaining second in Group A, hot on the heels of first-placed Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem. He finished with 19 points on efficient shooting, going 4-for-5 inside the arc, 2-for-4 from deep and 5-for-6 from the line, while he tied his career high with 7 rebounds, dished 6 assists, had 3 steals and drew 7 fouls, as the Aris players struggled to keep him under wraps. This is the first time in his 16-game EuroCup career that he has earned MVP of the Round honors.

[Mitch Creek](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/mitchell-creek/013927/) of U-BT Cluj-Napoca had the second-best index rating in this round, posting a 34 PIR in his team’s 101-99 defeat at BAI Manresa. The Australian forward shot a perfect 11-for-11 on two-pointers and 5-for-7 on free throws en route to 27 points, in addition to recording 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 6 fouls drawn.

Rounding out the list of top performers in Round 16 are three players who finished with a 33 PIR: [Devon Daniels](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/devon-daniels-iv/014172/) of Veolia Towers Hamburg, [Rihards Lomazs](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/rihards-lomazs/005553/) of Neptunas Klaipeda, and [Retin Obasohan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/retin-obasohan/011938/) of Manresa.

Daniels erupted for 26 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals as Hamburg downed Slask Wroclaw 99-96 to record back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Lomazs had a similarly impressive performance, amassing 31 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 6 fouls drawn in Neptunas’s 98-92 win over Jerusalem. Obasohan played in the final game of Round 16 and put on a clinic, pouring in a career-high 29 points, grabbing 3 rebounds, making 4 assists and drawing 14 fouls, which tied a EuroCup record, as Manresa defeated Cluj.

### Individual highs: Fardaws Aimaq, Lietkabelis, 15 rebounds

Rihards Lomazs led all scorers in Round 16 by netting 31 points. Cluj star Fatts Russell remains the leading scorer in the EuroCup with 20.8 points per game.

Fardaws Aimaq of Lietkabelis Panevezys grabbed a round-high 15 rebounds this week. Jerusalem’s Austin Wiley tops the rebounding charts with 8.8 boards per night.

Arnas Velicka of Neptunas provided 12 assists in this round, more than anybody else. He is also first in assists in the EuroCup, averaging 7.7 dimes per contest.

Kadre Gray of Slask had a career-high 5 steals in Round 16, the most of any player. Turk Telekom Ankara ballhawk Dogus Ozdemiroglu is the competition leader in this category with 2.1 steals per game.

Two players – Ismael Kamagate of Besiktas GAIN Istanbul and Dusan Miletic of Cluj – had a round-high 3 blocks. High-flying Manresa center Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu leads the way in blocks this season with an average of 1.7 rejections per night.

Five players recorded a double-double in Round 16: Kadre Gray (22 points, 10 assists), Dogus Ozdemiroglu (22 points, 11 rebounds), Arnas Velicka (16 points, 12 assists), NINERS Chemnitz’s Kevin Yebo (15 points, 10 rebounds), and Dolomiti Energia Trento’s Andrej Jakimovski (15 points, 10 rebounds).

BAXI Manresa had to dig deep on Wednesday night, overturning a disastrous start and a 17-point first-quarter deficit to secure a dramatic 101–99 home victory over U-BT Cluj-Napoca — and with it, a berth in the BKT EuroCup playoffs. 

Manresa survives Cluj to clinch playoff berth

BAXI Manresa had to dig deep on Wednesday night, overturning a disastrous start and a 17-point first-quarter deficit to secure a dramatic 101–99 home victory over U-BT Cluj-Napoca — and with it, a berth in the BKT EuroCup playoffs. The game slipped from their hands more than once, but the Catalans found a way when it mattered most.

“We didn't manage to finish the game. We had it in our hands, but we didn't manage to finish. We could have made better decisions, obviously, but it is what it is. This is basketball,” said Cluj head coach Mihai Silvășan, summing up his team’s heartbreak perfectly.

With just 33 seconds remaining, the Romanian side led 97–99 after Mitchell Creek completed a four-point play and Fatts Russell sank 2 free throws. But Manresa still had one final punch to throw.

From an inbounds play, Ferran Bassas found Louis Olinde, who drew an unsportsmanlike foul and converted 1 of his 2 attempts. That set the stage for Retin Obasohan, who had been carrying Manresa all night after a scoreless opening quarter in which Cluj raced ahead 7–24.

Obasohan, unstoppable from that point on, closed the game with 29 points and 14 fouls drawn. With 32 seconds to go, he attacked Jeffery Taylor — already in foul trouble — and finished a spinning bank shot to give Manresa a 100–99 lead. And when Russell’s final three-point attempt missed, the Nou Congost erupted.

“Yeah, man, I guess we like to make it exciting for the fans,” he laughed on the TV broadcast right after the game. “We gotta give a lot of credit to them, man. They came in here and played with a lot of energy, they played really well.”

Manresa not only celebrated its seventh home win, but also its qualification for the EuroCup Playoffs — something that looked highly unlikely early on.

“Our team was able to play for 40 minutes. We didn't have the greatest start, but we were able to fight back and get the win,” Obasohan reflected. His season-best performance — 29 points, 32 PIR — was capped by the decisive shot, a fitting reward for his relentless energy.

“At the end of the day, you know me, I just want to come out here and compete every single second I’m on the court and off the court,” he added. “I think we do a really great job as a team just stepping up. There are a lot of people who stepped up today in a variety of ways, and that’s what makes us special.”

With playoff qualification now secured, Manresa can turn its focus to fighting for a coveted top-2 finish that would grant direct access to the quarterfinals. Head coach Diego Ocampo, however, preferred to keep his players grounded.

“It’s just about going day by day and not thinking too much,” he insisted. “Just think about tomorrow’s practice and our next game. This is our life, and we need to do it the same way. We have to keep improving, practice, watch video, and stay focused. It’s only about improvement for me.”

Hamburg holds off Slask to keep momentum rolling at home

Veolia Towers Hamburg delighted its fans with a 99-96 home win over Slask Wroclaw on Wednesday night, picking up the team's second victory of the season.

Building on last week’s first BKT EuroCup win against Umana Reyer Venice and two straight victories in the German league, Hamburg carried that energy into Wednesday night, finding easy scoring opportunities and posting its highest-scoring game of the season.

Devon Daniels proved a steady force for the German side, fueling Hamburg’s second-half push and keeping the offense flowing. The American guard finished with a career-high 26 points and 8 assists, setting the tone down the stretch.

‘‘I think what made it a tough game is we had some lapses on defense. And I feel like our intensity was up and down, down throughout the game, but once we got our intensity at a steady pace and our pace fast, I think we were alright,’’ said Daniels after the game.

Hamburg got off to a confident start, capitalizing on transition opportunities and scoring efficiently in the paint, shooting 64% on two-pointers in the first half. Despite Slask cutting into the lead in the second half, Hamburg’s bench contributions helped the home team hold on for the win.

One of the keys to Hamburg’s win was outperforming its season averages. The home side shot 53.2% on two-pointers and 40% from beyond the arc, both well above its usual marks. Rebounding also stood out, with Hamburg grabbing 40 boards, while keeping turnovers under control at 11, below its season average of 15.3.

‘‘I think for stretches we played very well, not for the whole game,’’ Coach Benka Barloschky said after the game. ‘‘I wasn't really satisfied with our defensive performance tonight, in general. I think it took us, or we had too many stretches in the game, for minutes actually, where we just exchanged baskets with them, and that's not the way we want to play… In the end, again, I have to say we made big plays, made winning plays.’’

Leonard Thorpe stood out for Hamburg in the first half, contributing 14 points and 8 assists. Ross Williams, who struggled to score early, found his rhythm in the second half, hitting 3 triples and finishing with 9 points. Zacharie Perrin was effective in the paint, ending the game with 13 points and 8 rebounds.

Slask struggled to contain Hamburg’s transition game and missed many of the open shots throughout the game. The Polish side tried to turn the game around in the second half, with Kadre Gray standing out with 22 points and 10 assists, Issuf Sanon adding 17 points and 6 assists, and Stefan Dordevic chipping in 16 points, but it wasn’t enough.

‘‘Since day one, when we started to play in EuroCup and now, we are like growing up like a team, like a person in basketball-wise, I don’t know… But it's not good enough. We know how to play, nothing changed. We don't know how to win,’’ said Coach Ainars Bagatskis in the post-game press conference.

Umana Reyer Venice beat Cedevita Olimpija 86–84 after Kyle Wiltjer’s decisive basket in the final seconds, boosting its playoff hopes in EuroCup Round 16.


End of quarter plays define Reyer’s comeback win against Cedevita

Umana Reyer Venice had to battle until the final second to edge Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana 86–84 at home in Round 16, a result that dramatically increases Reyer’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs. Cedevita had already punched its ticket, and it led most of the way, but Reyer found enough defense, physicality and poise to flip the momentum at the end of each quarter and close it with Kyle Wiltjer’s decisive basket with 3.2 seconds left, followed by a contested stop on [Matthew Hurt](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/matthew-hurt/014222/)’s potential winner.

The first quarter belonged to the visitors. After a wild four‑point play by [Jordan Parks](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/jordan-parks/011909/), [Alessandro Lever](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/alessandro-lever/006571/) missed a wide‑open dunk at the horn to punctuate Reyer’s struggles, and Cedevita led 19–29 after 10 minutes, dominating almost every aspect of the game. It buried 7 of 9 two‑pointers and 4 of 6 threes, dished 8 assists against just 2 turnovers, while Reyer made only 5 of 17 two‑point shots. When Aleksej Nikolic and Jaka Blazic struck from downtown, it was 19–35.

Reyer steadied itself in the second quarter. The defense tightened, the glass evened up, and the hosts finished the half with an exclamation point as [RJ Cole](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/rj-cole/013929/) found Parks for a huge dunk to bring it within 41–46. In the period, Reyer made 8 of 12 two‑pointers, grabbed 10 rebounds, and forced 4 Cedevita turnovers.

“We have to continue with the same aggressiveness. We had problems to adjust at the beginning of the game and now, it is a two‑possession game,” head coach Neven Spahija said at halftime.

[Kyle Wiltjer](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/kyle-wiltjer/008052/) gave the arena a jolt at the end of the third, drilling a wild three‑pointer from beyond midcourt. Despite being outrebounded 5–10 in the quarter, Reyer found answers from deep, making 4 of 6 threes, and its defense stayed strong, forcing 4 more turnovers to keep the game within reach.

As expected, it all came down to the final plays. [DJ Stewart](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/dj-stewart/012700/)’s bomb put Cedevita up 79–80, [Carl Wheatle ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/carl-wheatle/013305/)answered from beyond the arc, and Hurt tied it at 82–82 from the foul line. Parks hit free throws, only for [Umoja Gibson](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/umoja-gibson/013855/) to bury a step‑back jumper for an 84–84 tie with 8.3 seconds left. Reyer called a timeout and put the ball in Wiltjer’s hands; the Canadian took Hurt one‑on‑one to score in the paint with 3.2 seconds remaining. Cedevita advanced the ball, and Hurt’s potentially game‑winning three, contested by Wiltjer, missed at the buzzer.

In short, Reyer lacked consistency and focus early; physicality and defense brought it back; and inspiration — plus a little luck with Wiltjer’s midcourt prayer — carried it through the finish.

“I’m going to give credit to my team. They did really well. They fought till the end. Like I said before the game, no matter if we are short in the rotation, we’re going to give our best. Also, I’m going to give credit to Olimpija. They are a very good team. They knew what they were doing from the first second of the game. They were so physical and we responded,” Spahija said. “That’s kind of our DNA. We have to be exactly who we are, continue to believe in ourselves, work hard and believe, together with our fans.”

Parks led the way with 22 points, Wiltjer added 19 and Wheatle 12 for the winners, who were without Ky Bowman and [Chris Horton](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/chris-horton/011988/). Reyer will qualify for the next round with another win; it heads on the road to face BAXI Manresa in Round 17 and hosts Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem in Round 18. Depending on other results, it could also qualify without more wins.

“I feel great,” Parks said. “A game like that, to be able to come back and play against them. “It was a very good collective victory. We were great defensively as a collective and we got what we wanted offensively, especially in the second half. We shared the ball and got out in transition,” said Bourg head coach Frederic Fauthoux.

“I have a great feeling because we played with the same energy for 40 minutes. That was the most important thing tonight. Every time someone came out the energy was the same.”

Antony Labanca hit 4 three-pointers to lead Bourg in scoring with 14 points while Darius McGhee had 13 points and 6 assists and Vincent Mitchell collected 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

“The biggest thing tonight for us was defensively: controlling the glass and getting the 50-50 balls,” Mitchell said. “That’s demoralizing for a team. We got them to turn the ball over a lot (25 turnovers). We just stayed solid on defense and played how we are supposed.”

Bourg’s defense lived up to its billing, going into the game second in opponents' scoring (75.7 ppg), fifth in opponents’ two-point shooting (51.9%) and tops in opponents’ three-point shooting (30.7%). Ulm scored only 66 points and converted only 36.4% on two-pointers and 19.4% from long range.

The victory gives Bourg back-to-back wins after beating Nancy 89-77 at home in the French League. The wins came after a combined four losses in the two competitions.

“We’ve had a couple of rough weeks, but we are starting to get back on the right foot,” Mitchell said. “We’re trying to get back to where we were. It’s getting to be around that time of the year where we need to be playing our best basketball. We faced a little bit of adversity and now we are ready to bounce back and keep it going.”

Bourg did not wait to take control of the game with a 19-2 run over 9 minutes in which the defense did not give up a single basket for a 19-4 lead. Ulm managed to trim it to 19-9 after 10 minutes.

The guests trimmed the margin to 7 points, but Bourg extended it to 18 points at halftime, 45-27.

McGhee added 2 triples in the opening minutes of the second half and the advantage swelled to 53-27. Ulm could not get closer than 22 points the rest of the game and Bourg just kept pouring it on. 

Ulm’s run of two straight wins was snapped and the German side dropped to 7-9, putting its chances of reaching the playoffs in doubt with its final two games at home versus Buducnost VOLI Podgorica and at Dolomiti Energia Trento.

Malik Osborne was the only Ulm player to manage double figure scoring with 11 points.

“They beat us in literally every aspect of the game. I can’t think of one area where we outplayed them. I thought maybe if we started well in the third quarter we would have a chance to fight back into the game. We’ve done that earlier in the season but we couldn’t find any solutions today. Tonight just wasn’t our night,” said Ulm head coach Ty Harrelson.

Panionios Cosmorama Travel Athens edged the London Lions 79-78 after a chaotic finish at the National Athletic Center Makis Liougad, capped by Matt Lewis’s 2 free throws with one second left. The hosts forced a turnover on a late London out‑of‑bounds play to set up the winning sequence.

“It was a very tough game,” said Panionios head coach Nenad Markovic. “The Lions play good, they play tough, they’re an athletic team… We showed great spirit to try and win the game. In the end, we succeeded.”

London led early and for long stretches, but Panionios kept coming. The first half swung on intensity and errors.

“We tried to manage our offensive game to adjust to their toughness and in many situations we didn’t do it well,” Markovic admitted – before the hosts found enough stops and composure to close it out at the line.

With both teams now out of playoff contention, only pride was at stake, but that didn’t stop both teams from competing with maximum intensity. London raced off to the better start, playing hard on both ends to open up a double-digit advantage in the first quarter. Though the hosts were able to tie the game just before halftime, they somehow managed to foul twice in the space of 1 second of play, meaning that London took a 3-point lead to the locker room.

Coach Tautvydas Sabonis’s men pulled away in the third period, scoring as a team to put themselves in pole position, but this one was far from done. Late-game ejections for London’s Chaundee Brown and Panionios’s Joe Thomasson disrupted the flow of the final frame, in which Markovic’s team kept chase down the stretch. The Lions seemed to have the game won, until some shocking final plays unfolded.

After a crucial three-pointer, Panionios played smothering defense on a London out-of-bounds play, forcing a brutal turnover with 10 seconds left on the clock. Choosing not to advance the ball, the hosts stretched the Lions’ defense with their final play, creating space for an unsuccessful shot attempt. However, Lewis drew a foul on the rebound, with a second remaining and was able to keep a cool hand, sinking both at the charity stripe and completing a heartening fightback victory.

Brandon Taylor played the starring role, adding 7 dimes and 3 steals to his difference-making 20 points. Joe Thomasson recorded 13 points before being ejected from the game. With their teams moving the ball effectively, the Greek team scored as a unit, with Jackson Kreuser scoring 12 points and Nate Watson posting 10 points and 9 rebounds.

“We have to be ready to play against a good team, learn from our mistakes because every game is a chance to get better,” Sabonis stated before the game.

Despite holding the lead for the majority of the clash, it was in fact a catastrophic error on the decisive in-bound play that gave Panionios a chance in this one.

Whether it reaches the postseason or not, Neptunas Klaipeda celebrated a victory that will long live in the memory of its passionate fans after the Lithuanian side overpowered Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem 98-92 to put on hold the Group A leader’s automatic quarterfinal berth.

Hapoel slipped to 12-4 after a second successive defeat, having suffered an 82-94 setback in Round 15 to Bahcesehir College Istanbul and the Turkish side is hot on the Israeli side’s heels.

Neptunas, in turn, improved to 7-9 and kepts its slim chances to earn a postseason berth alive, which they thoroughly deserved on the evidence of Wednesday night’s gritty performance.

Having led for much of the enthralling contest on the shores of Lithuania’s Baltic coast, Neptunas blew Hapoel away in the paint as it won the battle of the boards 42-25 while its versatile guard Arnas Velicka flirted with a triple-double, posting 16 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds.

Top scorer Rihards Lomazs poured 31 points - 20 of them in the first half when Hapoel overturned a 33-25 first quarter deficit to lead 54-55 at halftime as Jared Harper and Khadeen Carrington led the visiting team’s effort on offense.

However, the tables turned again after the break as the hosts engineered an 8-0 run and never looked back, fending off every Hapoel attempt of a comeback through sheer grit and determination on defense, which compensated for a poor shooting night from long range, 7-of-26 (26.9%).

Donatas Tarolis chipped in with 15 points for Neptunas and Karlis Silins racked up 8 and 10 rebounds, but the plaudits duly went to Velicka, who produced one of his most impressive EuroCup performances against much heralded opposition.

Asked whether the thought of amassing a triple-double had flashed across his mind during the game, Velicka said in his postgame comments:

 “Not really, I thought maybe, but it’s not about that, the most important thing is that we got the win. We kept alive our hopes of getting into the second round, so I am very happy for the team, the fans and the coaching staff.

“We did a great job defensively in the second half as Hapoel scored less than 40 points and that’s great, given all this talent they have got. It was a win-or-die game, so I am very happy how we stepped up, as everybody contributed.”

Head coach Gediminas Petrauskas echoed Velicka’s view and praised the noisy crowd, which got behind Neptunas in full force and carried the team in the home stretch when Hapoel threw everything but the kitchen sink at the hosts.

“In the second half, we took the shots we needed to take and we owe a big thank you to this crowd for scoring 98 points as we didn’t shoot so well from three-point range,” Petrauskas said. “Everybody did their part to win today so congratulations to all of them. Now it’s one game at a time.”

Harper led Hapoel’s effort on 19 points and Carrington added 16, while Cassius Winston and Isaiah Mobley netted 15 and 14, respectively. Austin Wiley racked up 10 and 6 boards but the rest of the crew failed on both counts, as their lack of scoring prowess went hand in hand with porous defending.

The sub-standard performance, which may come back to haunt Hapoel, left a bitter taste for Coach Yonatan Alon, who acknowledged that his team was beaten in all departments.

“We let them play,” he said. “We didn’t do the right things on defense and that’s what happens. We couldn’t set the tone from the beginning and Neptunas beat us on most of the physical possessions.

“They took 42 rebounds and we took 25, which means they had 17 possessions more than us. Rebounding is teamwork like everything else, whether we do something good or bad it’s always as a team.”

Up to that point in the game, Aris had made 19 of 25 two-pointers (76% 2FG).

Bahcesehir needed to shift the game's momentum and did it with a series of good defensive actions leading to easy baskets. [Jordan Ford](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/jordan-ford/013270/) buried a three-pointer, then a big block by [Caleb Homesley](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/caleb-homesley/011251/) off the glass allowed [Tyler Cavanaugh](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/tyler-cavanaugh/009601/) to score at the other end. When Cavanaugh buried a three-pointer, the hosts trailed 69-75, and a comeback seemed to be in place.

Bahcesehir kept getting defensive stops, preventing Jones from attacking the rim and generating for others. Soon after that, Homesley struck from downtown to make it 75-77. Jones made free throws, but so did Flynn and Homesley to tie it at 79-79 in the final minute. After Aris came up empty, Flynn waited until the final seconds to go past [Elijah Mitrou-Long](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/elijah---mitrou-long/013959/) and score at the rim. Aris had a final chance to win the game off a timeout but [Trevion Williams](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/trevion-williams/012604/) tapped the ball to run the clock down.

Flynn finished the game with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and 7 fouls drawn for a career-high PIR of 35.

"It was a tough game. Aris came out, made it tough on us all night, but at this point in the season every game is a must-win, so it was a team effort all the way down to the wire," Flynn said. "And I just happened to be the one that put us over the top, but it was an all-around team effort."

Aris only scored 4 free throws in the final 6 minutes, missing its last 9 field goal attempts and making 2 turnovers. Coach Barac stressed the fact that finding the right players at the right time made things happen.

"We found the lineup that worked well on the court today. I need to give credit to my players, they made some great plays, made important shots and also defensively, we changed a little bit the way we defend," Coach Barac said after the game. "We had great efforts from our bigs and fight from our guards down low on the mismatches, so everything to the players, congrats to them."

Bahcesehir finishes the EuroCup Regular Season with a home game against Slask Wroclaw in Round 17 and a road trip to Lithuania to face Neptunas Klaipeda in Round 18.

Dolomiti Energia Trento is one of the hottest teams in the BKT EuroCup right now, and its momentum shows no signs of slowing. After stunning opponents with back‑to‑back buzzer‑beater victories, the Italian club delivered its biggest statement yet, toppling Group B leader Besiktas GAIN Istanbul 87-74 – and doing it in style.

Trento didn’t just upset Besiktas. It dominated the Turkish side, rolling to an 87–74 victory that extended its winning streak to three games and marked its seventh win in the last eight. The surge has lifted Trento to 10–6 and firmly into the upper tier of the group standings.

Besiktas, meanwhile, avoided a completely lost night thanks only to Brynton Lemar’s 2 free throws with 13 seconds left, which preserved the visitors’ head‑to‑head tiebreaker after their 97-83 win in Round 7. But that was little consolation on a night when Trento delivered one of the most eye‑catching performances of the season.

“This is a big-time win for us. Beating Bestiktas - a really good team and really known in Europe - to come out with a win like that is really good for us,” said DJ Steward, who led Trento with 19 points. “We are feeling great. We just have to keep it going. I feel like our chemistry is getting really good.”

Steward got plenty of help. Matas Jogela scored 14 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, Andrej Jakimovski posted 15 points with 10 rebounds and DeVante’ Jones chipped in 11 points and 5 assists.

“It’s a big win. I believe winning against Besiktas counts double. We did an excellent job. The team executed the game plan. We were solid and everybody accounted for this victory,” said Trento head coach Massimo Cancellieri. “I am personally happy about the effort we had on defense. For me, it’s a really sweet taste.”

Jones and Jakimovski started the game well and had Trento up 12-10, but both committed a second foul in the opening 6 minutes and were forced to the bench. Besiktas took advantage of that with a 3-14 run to take a 15-24 lead, which was 17-24 after 10 minutes.

Trento’s defense picked up as did its three-point shooting, with 3 triples in a 15-0 run over nearly 5 minutes to take a 32-26 advantage. The cushion grew to 9 points and the lead was 42-33 at the break.

Trento continued its push in the second half with an 18-5 surge to build a 20-point lead. The cushion was 66-49 after 30 minutes. Besiktas tried to get back into the game and at least secure the tiebreaker, but Jogela knocked down back-to-back triples for a 74-53 lead with 7 minutes to go.

After Conor Morgan scored 8 straight points to trim the gap to 13 points, Jogela added 2 more triples and it was 79-61.

Morgan twice made it a 14-point game and Lemar made a layup and then free throws with 13 seconds to give Besiktas a sigh of relief with at least the tiebreaker.

Besiktas’s standing in the group has been buoyed by a perfect 8-0 mark at home, but the Turkish side fell to 3-5 on the road and 11-5 ove all, snapping a three-game winning streak. Conor Morgan tallied 12 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter while Lemar and Jonah Mathews both had 11 points.

Besiktas admittedly was missing star big man Ante Zizic, who was out with the flu, but the team would have needed more than just him. The Turkish side shot just 41.5% on two-pointers and 25.0% on three-pointers while scoring 74 points with a team index rating of 81. All of those numbers were drastically lower than its season averages: 59.6% on two-pointers (ranked 2nd in the EuroCup), 39.4% on three-pointers (3rd), 94.2 points (3rd) and 108.9 PIR (2nd).

“Congratulations to Trento on their amazing series. This is their seventh win in the last eight games,” Besiktas head coach Dusan Alimpijevic said.

“They played very good, with good energy. They played with a great approach. Everything opposite of us. We played with a bad approach without energy. And we didn’t look like how we wanted to look.”

Buducnost VOLI Podgorica took a big step toward securing a postseason spot in the BKT EuroCup after a 97-81 home win over Chemnitz NINERS on Tuesday left the Montenegrin side on a 10-6 record in the competition’s Group B.

Buducnost will be assured of reaching the business end of the competition if ratiopharm ulm loses on Wednesday night or if it wins either of its two remaining regular-season games.

Things did not go according to script for Buducnost early on as Chemnitz hit 3 of its opening 4 shots from downtown and took a 2-9 lead, which it extended to 12-20 midway through the first quarter. The hosts gradually regained their composure and a spectacular dunk by Mays slashed the deficit to 29-31 at the end of the opening period. It was a sign of things to come.

Mays, who equaled his career highs with 22 points and a PIR of 29, rolled around his marker and ripped through the paint to rock the rim, instigating a much-improved Buducnost performance in what turned out to be a vital second quarter.

Having engineered a 17-0 run, which turned a 34-35 deficit into a 51-35 lead, Buducnost dominated the period 31-14 and led 60-44 at halftime on the back of 17 points and 4 boards from Mays, as well as 24 team rebounds, which was double the amount Chemnitz managed.

Trailing 75-53 midway through the third, the visitors managed a 0-7 run and slashed the deficit to 78-65 ahead of the final 10 minutes, but that was as good as it got for them. Buducnost went on a 10-0 run as its lead soared to 88-67 and the writing was on the wall for Chemnitz, which slipped to 8-8 in the club’s maiden EuroCup season.

“It was good to see shots fall, but the most important thing is that we won,” a delighted Mays said. “I am just glad how the team played and how together we looked tonight. We love the fans, they give us such a boost and we appreciate when they come to support us. |We hope to give them something to keep cheering about.”

Head coach Andrej Zakelj was glad to see Buducnost bounce back from last week’s 96-74 drubbing at Besiktas GAIN Istanbul, although he criticized his team’s slow and sluggish start to the game.

“The first quarter was bad, to be honest,” he said. “From the second quarter onwards, we played much better basketball as we improved on defense and got more focused. I am satisfied with the outcome as we needed this win.”

In a thriller that came down to the final shot, Bahcesehir grabbed an important victory in Group A by downing Aris 81-79 at home. Bahcesehir improved to 11-5 in the standings while Aris dropped 7-9. Malachi Flynn became Bahcesehir's hero by scoring the game-winning driving layup with 0.3 seconds remaining.

Tyler Cavanaugh led the winners with 20 points. Flynn added 19, Trevion Williams had 13 and Caleb Homesley 11 for Bahcesehir. Bryce Jones paced Aris with 16 points, Amine Noua scored 11 and Danilo Andjusic had 10 for the visitors, who led 61-75 with over 6 minutes remaining. Cavanaugh and Homesley fueled a 14-2 run that brought Bahcesehir back in the game and then Flynn followed free throws with the game-winning layup already in the final second.

Neptunas battled for a lifeline win in a bid to keep alive its chances of reaching the postseason, improving to 7-9 after a memorable 98-92 home win over Jerusalem, which dropped to 12-4. Neptunas thoroughly dominated the rebounds as it won the battle of the boards 42-25, while its guard Arnas Velicka flirted with a triple-double and finished with 16 points, 12 assists and 9 boards.

Neptunas led for the lion’s share of the thrilling contest, having carved out a 33-25 first quarter lead. Hapoel edged ahead 54-55 at halftime but the hosts prevailed in the second half on the back of 31 points from Rihards Lomazs, as Donatas Tarolis poured in 15 and Karlis Silins added 8 and 10 rebounds. Jared Harper led a pack of five Hapoel scorers in double figures with 19 points while Khadeen Carrington netted 16 and Cassius Winston 15.

Panionios came back to defeat London 79-78 at National Athletic Center Makis Liougad. Coach Nenad Markovic’s men reduced the deficit in the closing moments, forcing key London turnovers and finishing the game at the free-throw line with a second remaining. With both teams now out of playoff contention, pride was the prize, but the hosts moved to 3-13 with the result, while London slides to 5-11 on the season.

Brandon Taylor played the starring role, adding 7 dimes and 3 steals to his difference-making 20-point scoring performance. Not to be outdone, Joe Thomasson recorded 13 points before being ejected from the game. With their teams moving the ball effectively, the Greek team scored as a unit, with Jackson Kreuser finishing the game with 12 points and Nate Watson posting 10 points and 9 rebounds. Shavar Reynolds, Tarik Phillip and Chaundee Brown netted 16 points apiece for London.

Bourg got back on track in its fight for a top-two spot in Group B with a comfortable 97-66 victory at home over Ulm. After giving up just 9 points in the first quarter, Bourg extended the lead to 18 points at halftime and was never challenged in the second half to take its record to 12-4 and snap a two-game losing streak. 

Antony Labanca hit 4 three-pointers to lead Bourg in scoring with 14 points while Darius McGhee had 13 points and 6 assists and Vincent Mitchell collected 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Bourg’s 30 assists set a club record. Ulm’s run of two straight wins came to an end as the German side dropped to 7-9, putting its chances of the playoffs in doubt. Malik Osborne led Ulm player in scoring with 11 points.

Hamburg posted a 99-96 home win over Slask at Inselpark Arena, claiming its second victory of the season to move to 2-14 in Group A, while Slask dropped to 4-12. With both sides already eliminated from the playoff race, Hamburg got off to a strong start with efficient shooting in the first quarter. By the second, the home side had opened up a 12-point lead. 

Slask stayed in the game, with Kadre Gray contributing 15 points to help cut the deficit. Hamburg headed into halftime ahead by 5, and in a balanced second half, Slask continued to chase the score. Devon Daniels and Ross Williams stepped up for Hamburg in the second half, combining for 26 points. With 40 seconds remaining, Slask briefly took the lead for the second time in the game, but Hamburg closed out the game with Zacharie Perrin and Daniels’s free throws.

Daniels led Hamburg with 26 points and 8 assists, Leonard Thorpe added 14 points and 8 assists, Zacharie Perrin contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds, and Kenneth Ogbe finished with 10 points. For Slask, Gray posted 22 points and 10 assists, Issuf Sanon added 17 points and 6 assists, Stefan Dordevic scored 16 points, Blazej Czerniewicz had 13 and Ajdin Penava 10.

In a high-scoring game that literally came down to the final shot, Reyer increased its chances to make it to the playoffs in Group A by edging Cedevita 86-84 at home. Reyer improved to 9-7 in the standings and could reach the playoffs next week. Cedevita, which dropped to 10-6, has already sealed its ticket to the next round.

Jordan Parks led the winners with 22 points. Kyle Witljer scored 19 - including the game-winning layup with 3.6 seconds remaining. Carl Wheatle added 12 points for Reyer. Umaja Gibson paced Cedevita with 19 points, Aleksej Nikolic added 12 and DJ Stewart and Matthew Hurt each had 10 for the visitors. 

It all came down to the final seconds, as a step-back jumper by Gibson tied it at 84-84,. After a timeout, Wiltjer scored around the basket with 3.6 seconds left and Hurt missed a highly-contested three-point shot at the buzzer.

In an intense matchup that went down to the final moments, Manresa narrowly edged out Cluj with a 102-99 victory. This hard-earned win not only cements Manresa’s position as a top-six seed in Group A, improving its record to 10-6, but also secures a playoff berth and creates a two-game cushion over its Romanian opponent, which now stands at 8-8.

The Spaniard side had to overcome a 17-point first-period deficit and wait till the last minute to seal the outcome after Retin Obasohan took advantage of an unsportsmanlike foul called on Dusan Miletic to set a 100-99 edge for Manresa with 22 seconds remaining. A missed three by Fatts Russell on the following play finally buried Cluj's hopes of a famous win.

Obasohan led all scorers with 29 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 14 fouls drawn, good for a career-high PIR of 33. Louis Olinde followed with 18 points and 8 rebounds, as Alex Reyes poured in 13 points for the winners. Mitch Creek paced Cluj with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, Russell finished with 22 points, and Dusan Miletic posted 19 points and 8 boards in the losing effort.

Turk Telekom avoided a slip-up in its fight for a top-two finish in Group A by fighting past Lietkabelis 85-75 at home, as its winning streak stretched to four games. Turk Telekom put the game out of reach with a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to improve to 11-5, including 5-3 at the Ankara Spor Salonu. 

Dogus Ozdemiroglu had a magical night in setting career highs with 22 points and 11 assists for the hosts, and Marko Simonovic added 12 points. Lietkabelis continues to struggle this season with its fourth straight loss and seventh in the last eight games for a 3-13 record. Justus Furmanavicius paced five players in double figures with 14 points while Lazar Mutic and Jamel Morris both had 13 points, and Fardaws Aimaq chipped in 6 points and 15 rebounds.

Buducnost is on the verge of reaching the postseason after an emphatic home win over Chemnitz left the Montenegrin side on a 10-6 record in Group B with two games remaining in the regular season. Buducnost needs one more win to be mathematically sure of qualification, either away against Ulm and at home to Bourg, while Chemnitz have it all to do as the German side is on an 8-8 record after being soundly beaten in Podgorica.

Skylar Mays tied his career highs of 22 points and a 29 PIR with a superb performance, shooting 4-of-4 from deep and 4-of-5 from inside as he scored 17 in a rampant first half. Mays also racked up 5 boards while Juwan Morgan and Jerry Boutsiele chipped in with 17 points each, the latter also collecting 7 rebounds. Alex Bouteille added 11 points for the home team. At the other end, Kostja Mushidi stood out for Chemnitz on 19 points and Corey Davis Jr, netted 18.

Buducnost made a decisive 17-0 run early in the third quarter which turned a slender 34-35 deficit into a whopping 51-35 lead for the home team, which never looked back. Having led 60-44 at halftime, the Montenegrin side romped ahead 75-53 in the third and stayed in cruise control for the rest of the matchup.

Trento took control of the game with an 18-5 run early in the second half to improve its record to 10-6 with seven wins in its last eight games. Brynton Lemar made 2 free throws with 13 seconds left to make it a 13-point difference and give Besiktas the head-to-head tiebreaker after having won the Round 7 game between them at home 97-83. 

DJ Steward led the way for Trento with 19 points while Matas Jogela had 14 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, Andrej Jakimovski scored 15 points with 10 rebounds and DeVante’ Jones chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. Besiktas’s standing in the group has been buoyed by a perfect 8-0 mark at home but the Turkish side fell to 3-5 on the road and 11-5 over all, snapping a three-game winning streak. Conor Morgan tallied 12 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter while Lemar and Jonah Mathews both had 11 points.
