Half of the teams in Group B have been to the EuroCup Finals with Valencia and Jerusalem winning and Bourg, Turk Telekom and Aris finishing as runners-up.
2024-25 BKT EuroCup: Group B at a glance
All of those teams will be chasing the crown in 2025. Here’s an early look at the 10 teams in Group B.
The winningest club in EuroCup history, Valencia is back in the competition after two seasons in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and Coach Pedro Martinez plans to lead his team back as soon as possible. With a core of players returning and a new-look frontline featuring Matt Costello, Ethan Happ and Nante Sestina, Valencia is on the prowl for a record fifth EuroCup crown.
The 2004 champion is back in the EuroCup after a six-season hiatus. Jerusalem has a long and distinguished EuroCup history; its 90 wins are the ninth most ever in the competition. Already this summer, its two signings – Austin Wiley and Justin Smith – have shown that Jerusalem is aiming high. Can Coach Jonathan Alon bring everything together to make a run at the championship?
No team has more wins over the past three EuroCup seasons than Bourg’s 61. However, after reaching the EuroCup Finals last season, Coach Frederic Fauthoux’s squad has undergone some turnover. With the arrival of several promising players and the experience from the remaining core, there is reason to expect to see Bourg make another deep EuroCup run.
After reaching the EuroCup finals two seasons ago, Turk Telekom’s campaign came to an end in the eighthfinals last season. No team has been more aggressive early in the summer to build its team and with Coach Can Erdem back on the sidelines along with nine new players, Turk Telekom is positioning itself as a force to be reckoned with.
In six previous seasons in the EuroCup, the only time Reyer made it as far as the quarterfinals was in 2020 when the season was abandoned before that stage could be played. Coach Neven Spahija will try to take the team at least as far in 2025. To do so, Reyer has recruited Tyler Ennis and three-point ace Davide Moretti to form a dangerous backcourt that for opponents will be hard to handle.
Aris made its long-awaited return to the EuroCup last season and made plenty of waves as it reached the eighthfinals. The club has already been hard at work, re-signing star point guard Vassilis Toliopoulos and several promising young talents. With that hungry core, Aris aims to soar high once again.
This season will be Lietkabelis’s fifth in a row in the EuroCup and will look to take another step forward. Last season the club missed making the knockout stages for the third year running by a single victory. Lietkabelis also placed third in the Lithuanian League as it continues to cement itself as a rising power.
After reaching the quarterfinals in 2022, Cedevita has had a pair of disappointing seasons. The club is determined to give its fans in the Slovenian capital reasons to cheer this time. Coach Zvezdan Mitrovic, who guided AS Monaco to the 2021 crown, was appointed to lead the way and the first few signings are worthy of excitement.
After reaching the knockout stages in its first two EuroCup seasons, Hamburg struggled last year. Coach Benka Barloschky brings back only one player from last season – the multi-talented Will Christmas – and with a new look and players hungry to prove themselves, Hamburg will try to bounce back and claim a top-six finish in Group B.
In just its second EuroCup campaign, Cluj finished the regular season in second place and reached the EuroCup Quarterfinals. With Karel Guzman, Adam Mokoka and All-EuroCup selection Patrick Richard returning to play under Coach Mihai Silvasan, Cluj and its passionate fans will be aiming high once again.
