Bourg set a club record for most free throws attempted and came within 1 rebound of another club best.
Aggressive Bourg triumphed despite shooting woes

Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse did not play its best game of the season, but the team’s aggressiveness on both ends of the floor proved to be too much for its Round 11 opponent to handle. The result was a 79-67 victory over Dolomiti Energia Trento.
The ugly side of the game for Bourg was that it made just 3 three-pointers and committed 18 turnovers. It was the worst three-point shooting night in the club’s four seasons in the EuroCup. What’s more, one of those 3 triples came with the game already decided with 33 seconds to go.
As a team, Bourg was 3 for 17 (17.6%) from downtown. Teenage sensation Zaccharie Risacher was 2 for 2 from deep, meaning the rest of the team struggled mightily with the outside shot.
“We always stay together as a team. That’s what made us win the game,” Risacher said after the game. The forward contributed 12 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals, which all tied for the team lead.
The ways Bourg was able to make up for those shooting woes were by being aggressive and by all accounts, Bourg got the job done.
“Numbers never lie,” Trento head coach Paolo Galbiati summed up after. “11 rebounds more means many [extra] possessions. 31-10 free throws for sure shows they were aggressive.”
Those stats that Coach Galbiati were telling as Bourg set a club record with 31 free throws attempted and were 1 off the club record with 43 rebounds. The hosts tied a club record with 24 free throws made.
Bourg also held Trento to low shooting numbers: 43.6% on two-pointers and 27.6% on threes. The hosts forced 17 turnovers and converted them into 25 points. Trento only generated 16 points off of Bourg’s miscues.
“I am very satisfied because what is most important is to win,” Frederic Fauthoux, Bourg’s head coach, summed up the game. “Tonight we played very good defense, we were very tough. Of course, we made some mistakes on offense, but we won because we gave a lot of energy on defense.”
