Buducnost VOLI Podgorica announced a new deal with guard Petar Popovic, who re-signed his contract until the end of the 2023-24 season. Popovic (1.93 meters, 25 years old) averaged 8.3 points in 16 7DAYS EuroCup games, hitting all of his 27 free throw attempts. He is set to enter his seventh season with Buducnost. In his six years with his current club, Popovic helped Buducnost win an Adriatic League title in 2018, four Montenegrin League crowns and six Montenegrin Cup trophies.

Popovic started his career with Lovcen Cetinje of his native Montenegro, and also played for Nea Kifissia of Greece and Mega Leks of Serbia before joining Buducnost in 2016. In 61 EuroCup career games with Buducnost, Popovic has amassed 350 points (5.7 ppg.) on 57-of-62 free throws (91.9%). He also played the 2018-19 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with his current club, averaging 4.9 points in 21 games. Popovic is also a regular member of the Montenegrin national team.
