U-BT Cluj-Napoca added another weapon to its frontline by signing Mareks Mejeris for the coming season. Mejeris (2.07 meters, 31 years old) played last season for Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem. He averaged 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in the Israeli League and helped the club capture the Israeli Cup. Mejeris posted 7.4 points and 3.7 rebounds in the Basketball Champions League, too.

Considered to be an outstanding defensive player, Mejeris is a three-time Latvian League champion with VEF Riga and was named the MVP of the finals in two of those seasons. Mejeris returns to the EuroCup for the first time since the 2014-15 season when he played for Riga in his native Latvia. He has also suited up for Liepajas Lauvas in Latvia; Fuenlabrada, Burgos and Clavijo in Spain; Elan Chalon in France, Parma Perm in Russia, and Pesaro in Italy.
