France: Paris wins Leaders Cup
Paris Basketball won the first trophy in club history by defeating Nanterre 90-85 in the Leaders Cup final in Saint-Chamond. T.J. Shorts was named tournament MVP after scoring 26 points in the final. Nadar Hifi added 20 points and Mikael Jantunen tallied 12 points and 8 rebounds. Justin Bibbins led Nanterre with 20 points, Desi Rodriguez scored 15 and Benjamin Sene 12.
Cluj repeats as Romanian Cup winner
U-BT Cluj-Napoca successfully defended its Romanian Cup with an 84-70 victory over CS Rapid Bucuresti in the final on Sunday. It marked the seventh time the club has won the cup. Jarell Eddie shined with 23 points on 5-of-8 three-point shooting plus 6 rebounds for the winners. Emanuel Cate added 13 points and 8 rebounds and Andrija Stipanovic had 13 and 6. Toarlyn Fitzpatrick led Rapid with 14 points and Tudor Somacescu scored 13.
Fitzpatrick’s triple at the end of the first quarter gave Rapid a 22-23 lead before Cluj opened the second on a 15-3 tear to take control for good. Eddie scored the last 6 points in that run. The margin was 48-37 at halftime. Rapid closed to within 62-54 after three quarters and 70-64 early in the fourth quarter, but Cluj regrouped to close out the victory.
