Hamburg Towers knocked off Dolomiti Energia Trento 90-69 at home for their first back-to-back wins in 2022.
Hamburg rolls past Trento 90-69



Hamburg pulled away for good in the third quarter to improve to 6-8 with its third victory in the last four games. Jaylon Brown paced Hamburg with 22 points, including 5 three-pointers, while Maik Kotsar amassed 14 points and 8 rebounds and Seth Hinrichs totalled 4 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Trento’s nightmare season continued with an 11th straight loss to fall to 1-14 despite Jordan Caroline scoring 21 points. Dominque Johnson added 11 points in the defeat.

Cameron Reynolds sank a jumper to open the scoring for the visitors, who struggled after that in the early going. Hamburg reeled off a 12-1 run with three-pointers from Robin Christen and Brown to lead 12-3. After being held more than 6 minutes without a basket, Jordan Caroline and Dominque Johnson went back-to-back from deep to pull within 12-9. Eddy Edigin scored 3 points at the other end and Hamburg led 15-10 after 10 minutes.
Johnathan Williams’s free throws were the first points of the second quarter and Johnson made it 17-14. Hamburg went on another run with Brown draining a pair of triples in a 10-2 surge to pull ahead 27-16. Brown added another three and Hamburg kept pushing with Osaro Rich contributing a three-point play and three-pointer and Caleb Homesley and Christen also hit from long range to make it 44-27. Andrea Mezzanotte countered with a three-pointer for the visitors and Caroline added 4 points. It was 48-36 at the break.
Bradford and Caroline scored to get the visitors within single digits, 49-40, in the early stages of the third quarter. Brown responded with another three-pointer and Kotsar scored three baskets to extend the lead to 58-43. The hosts did not slow down and Justus Hollatz’s three-pointer gave Hamburg a 71-52 cushion after 30 minutes.
Hollatz started the final frame with a layup as the lead grew to 73-52. Trento converted 6 free throws and the score was 75-58. Hamburg kept hitting from the outside as Trevon Bluiett, Hollatz and Lukas Meisner drained three-pointers and the lead swelled to 86-60 with under 4 minutes to play. Trento did not get closer than 21 points the rest of way.
