Paris Basketball added size and experience to its team signing forward Bandja Sy, the club announced Thursday. Sy (2.05 meters, 33 years old) arrives from Metropolitans 92 where he spent the last two years. Last season, Sy posted 5.8 points, shooting 38.7% from long range, and 3.2 rebounds helping the Mets reach the French League playoff finals.
Sy is a veteran of six BKT EuroCup season. In his 75 appearances, including 47 as a starter, he has averaged 5.6 points and 3.5 rebounds. He played in the EuroCup two seasons with SLUC Nancy, making his competition debut in the 2014-15 season. Sy also played a year in the EuroCup with Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade in 2018-19, two with MoraBanc Andorra from 2019 to 2021, and one with the Mets, in the 2021-22, when he averaged 4.1 points and 2.9 rebounds, helping the team reach the quarterfinals.
Sy played college basketball for New Mexico in the United States, before starting his professional basketball career in 2013 with French side Pau-Orthez. In between his stints with Nancy and Partizan, Sy played the 2016-17 season with LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and had a brief stint with AEK Athens of Greece. Born on the outskirts of the French capital, Sy remains at home, solidifying Paris Basketball's frontcourt.
