Shorthanded Joventut rallied from a double-digit deficit to lead late, but Paris was too strong in the extra session.

Paris Basketball remained unbeaten after a dramatic 94-101 overtime road win over Joventut Badalona on Tuesday night. T.J. Shorts sent the game into overtime with a pair of free throws with 5.6 seconds left in regulation, and Nadir Hifi scored 7 of his game-high 27 points in overtime to improve Paris to 7-0 atop of Group A, while Joventut dropped to 3-4 in the standings.
The hosts, playing without guards Andres Feliz and Pau Ribas, and big men Ante Tomic and Vladimir Brodziansky, rallied from an 11-point third quarter deficit to take an 80-73 lead in the fourth quarter. But T.J. Shorts started pulling the strings on Paris's offense, and Collin Malcolm scored important baskets to force overtime, in which the visitors took control and won the game.
Malcolm finished with 18 points, Shorts with 13 points and 9 assists, and Tyson Ward collected 13 points plus 9 rebounds in a victory. Veteran playmaker Kenny Chery paced Joventut with 18 points, while 17-year-old Michael Ruzic shined with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Andrew Andrews had 11 points and DeShaun Thomas and 19-year old Jordi Rodriguez each scored 10 in defeat.
The teams traded blows from the get-go, with Thomas scoring twice for the hosts, but a triple from Nifi and a tip-in from Michael Kessens made it 8-11. Ruzic scored a pair of baskets, and 21-year-old Yannick Kraag went coast-to-coast for the hosts. Chery's triple made it 19-13, but Malcolm scored 8 straight points, including a triple, and the teams were tied a 23-23 after one quarter.
Thomas and Pep Busquets opened the scoring for the hosts in the second quarter, but Paris answered with back-to-back-to-back threes from Shorts, Ward and Hifi. That was just a start of a 0-16 run, capped by a driving layup from Shorts that opened a 27-39 margin. Ruzic had another basket, a tip-in before three-pointers from Rodriguez and Guillem Vives halved the margin, only for Shorts and Leon Kratzer to make it 40-50 at the break.

Joventut had a better start to the second half, with Thomas and Busquets each knocking down a triple to get the hosts within 49-52. A baseline jumper from Chery made it 53-55, but Paris answered with a quick 0-9 run, which included a three-pointer from Hifi. Chery and Kraag snapped the run with back-to-back triples for the hosts. Hifi hit another triple for Paris, but Chery and Ruzic nailed back-to-back threes for the hosts, making it 67-69 after 30 minutes.
Joventut opened the fourth quarter with back-to-back threes from Rodriguez and Chery, to jump in front 73-69. Paris needed nearly 4 minutes to score in the quarter, and a three-pointer from Vives extended it to 80-73. Malcolm scored 4 points for Paris, but Andrews was making free throws for the hosts. Sebastian Herrera nailed a transition triple for Paris, and fastbreak baskets from Shorts and Malcolm tied it at 87-87 in the final minutes. Andrews got a roll on a runner to restore Joventut's lead, but Shorts made both foul shots with 5.6 left in regulation, sending the game into overtime.
Hifi opened the extra session with a three-pointer, then added a three-point play to make it 91-95. Ruzic had another triple, but Shorts made a driving layup, then served Leon Kratzer for a shot-clock beating layup which made it 94-99, icing the game.
