Paris Basketball grabbed its seventh road win in Group A by overwhelming Wolves Wilnius 79-110 in the Lithuanian capital on Wednesday. Paris improved to 9-1 in the standings while Wolves dropped to 4-5.
Paris thrashes Wolves for ninth win, 79-110!
T.J. Shorts and Nadir Hifi led the winners with 24 points apiece. Shorts added 11 assists for a double-double, picking up just 1 turnover. Leon Kratzer added 12 points for Paris, which had five others players with at least 8 points. Adas Juskevicius led Wolves with 15 points. Regimantas Miniotas added 10 for the hosts.
Paris built double-digit lead
Miniotas got Wolves going with a triple, getting help from Djordje Gagic and Juskevicius to build a 11-5 lead. Hifi and Collin Malcolm stepped up for Paris, Mikael Jantunen buried a three-pointer and Shorts's floater put the guests back ahead, 13-14. Shorts struck twice from downtown, Kratzer added a tip-in and Tyson Ward's coast-to-coast layup boosted Paris's lead to 13-24 after 10 minutes.
Paris took off
Shorts capped a 0-17 Paris run with a driving layup. Gagic and Kratzer exchanged dunks, then Bandja Sy's corner triple made it a 18-point game, 15-33. Shorts kept pacing Paris and Hifi buried a couple of three-pointers to break the game open, 19-44. Hifi struck from beyond the arc and added a jumper, boosting his team's lead to 26-51. Arnas Berucka and Vaidas Karinauskas brought Wolves closer, 35-58, at halftime.
Shorts stopped Wolves' comeback
Kratzer took over with an alley-oop slam and Malcolm added a fastbreak layup to boost the guests' margin to 35-62. Tre'Shawn Thurman and Gagic quickly answered to give Wolves hope at 46-64, after an 11-2 run. Shorts followed a floater with a jumper, getting help from Hifi to restore a 50-74 Paris margin. Kratzer dunked again and an unstoppable Shorts kept Paris way out of trouble, 58-81, after 30 minutes.
Paris rounded near-perfect night
Paris opted to slow down its offense early in the fourth quarter, trying to run the game clock down, but kept finding good scoring option, finding Kratzer down low. Hifi sealed the outcome with his fifth three-pointer, 67-91, as even when Wolves kept trying until the final buzzer, Paris had cruised to yet another well-deserved road win.
