Prometey rallies from 13 points down in fourth to beat Joventut 94-80

Prometey Slobozhanske rallied from 13 points down in the fourth quarter to knock off Joventut Badalona 94-80 on Wednesday night. Prometey went on a 20-0 run in the final period and gave up just 4 points in the final 8 minutes for its third win the last four games and a 10-8 record, which propelled it ahead of Joventut via a tiebreaker for fourth place in Group A. Joventut had won their previous tie 79-76.
Gian Clavell led the way with 24 points, Issuf Sanon had 23 points, Ronald March scored 19 and Caleb Agada tallied 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Joventut finished the regular season with three straight losses for a 10-8 record. Shannon Evans was Joventut’s leading scorer with 17 points and 6 assists and Pau Ribas added 12 points.

Joventut started hot from the outside with Pep Busquests, Michael Ruzic and Evans all hitting three-pointers for an early 7-11 lead. Clavell took over for the home side, scoring 10 points in a 12-2 Prometey run to pull ahead 21-15. Joventut veteran Ribas knocked down a three-pointer right before the end of the first quarter to make it 27-27 after 10 minutes.
The beginning of the second quarter saw four lead changes before Sanon drained two triples and a free throw for a 39-34 Prometey cushion. Prometey was up 43-38 after a March triple only to see two more Busquets three-pointers put the visitors back ahead 47-53 at the break with the hosts scoring just 2 points in the final 3 minutes.
Joventut scored the first 6 points of the second half as the cushion grew to 47-59. Prometey needed more than 2 minutes to finally score via a Sanon three-pointer. Guillem Vives’s three-pointer extended the lead to 50-65. A three-pointer and 3 free throws from Clavell brought Prometey within 58-67. Another Ribas triple had the guests up 58-71 after 30 minutes.
After Prometey scored the first 6 points of the fourth quarter, Ribas sank a three-pointer and Joventut reestablished a 12-point lead with 8:20 minutes left. Prometey answered with the next 20 points for an 84-76 lead with March scoring 8 points, including the three-pointer to put the hosts back ahead, and Agada adding 6 points. Evans’s free throw finally snapped the drought but Sanon added another triple and the hosts led 87-77 with 2 minutes to play. Joventut could not muster any kind of offense the rest of the way.
