Umana Reyer Venice continued adding players to its roster, signing big man Matteo Chillo, the club announced Wednesday. Chillo (2.03 meters, 29 years old) has spent the last four years with a fellow Italian side Treviso. Last season he posted 4.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in the Italian League and averaged 5.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in the Basketball Champions League. Chillo grew up with Fortitudo Bologna and started his professional career with Imola before playing with Biella, Treviglio, Rieti and Fortitudo, all in the Italian second division. He then joined Treviso in 2018. He also won a gold medal with Italy at the U20 European Championship in 2013. Chillo is now set to make his 7DAYS EuroCup debut.
Reyer adds frontcourt depth with Chillo
"I am very honored to have received the call from one of the most ambitious clubs in Italy," Chillo said. "We will have many new players and it will be our responsibility to train with enthusiasm, sacrifice and humility to create a strong group. I can't wait to start!"
