Paris Basket is an up-and-coming club in French basketball eager to make a name for itself on the continental stage this season, its first in the 7DAYS EuroCup. To that end, the club hired a promising young head coach in Will Weaver, who inherits two-thirds of his roster from last season.
BACKCOURT
Paris Basket will keep opponents guessing because of its multitude of players who can play a multitude of positions. That statement explains who we’ll see in the backcourt where there are not any traditional old-school pass-first playmakers but instead several combo-guards who can score and create for others comfortably. Kyle Allman will surely have a major role after he led the team in scoring last season with 15.0 points per game and ranked second with 4.6 assists per game. He will be flanked by Tyrone Wallace, who likes to get to the basket. After playing in the NBA for four of the last five years, he comes to Europe for the first time with Paris. Amar Gegic also fits a similar mold as someone tall enough to play small forward who can also run the offense. Last season, at the age of 23, he was the top scorer (14.3 ppg.) and second in assists (3.6 apg.) for Cibona Zagreb in the Adriatic League. Juhann Begarin, 20, is more of a natural shooting guard who acquitted himself nicely last year in his first season in the top French League as he scored 11.1 points per game and was among the league leaders in steals. All signs point to him taking a step forward this season. Killian Malwaya is among the top prospects his age in Europe, however, as a 17-year-old he will mostly be soaking up experience with Paris this season.
