Lietkabelis Panevezys extended its home winning streak to five games as it rolled to a 93-78 victory over Partizan NIS Belgrade in Group A.
Lietkabelis stuns Partizan 93-78



Lietbelis took control of the game with a 20-0 run to start the second quarter for a 20-point lead and improved to 7-6 - and 5-2 at Cido Arena. Gediminas Orelik and Djordje Gagic led the way for Lietkabelis with 21 points each. Vytenis Lipkevicius chipped in 14 points and Kristupas Zemaitis had 11 points. Partizan, which could not get closer than 13 points the rest of the way, lost its fourth straight on the road to fall to 9-5. Kevin Punter paced Partizan with 20 points, Rade Zagorac tallied 16 points and Yam Madar scored 12 points in the loss.

Partizan opened the game with the first 5 points, including a three-pointer from Rade Zagorac. Djordje Gagic scored Lietkabelis’s first points and Orelik knotted the game with a triple. He drained another three-pointer in the hosts’ 14-3 run to pull ahead 14-8. Orelik foul shots increased the margin to 18-10. Partizan finally started to score more consistently with Punter scoring 10 straight points for Partizan to even the game 24-24 after 10 minutes.
Lietkabelis started the second quarter with the first 20 points, including three more triples from Orelik and one from Dovydas Giedraitis for a 44-24 advantage. Partizan could not get anything going, committing 7 turnovers and failing to score for the first 7 minutes until Balsa Koprivica’s dunk. The cushion grew to 48-26 and was 53-37 at intermission thanks to Punter’s long three-pointer at the buzzer.
After Gagic’s free throws started the second half, Punter buried a triple and Zach LeDay’s jumper got the visitors as close as 55-42. Kristupas Zemaitis, Lipkevicius and Panagiotis Kalaitzakis all hit three-pointers in a 13-4 answer and the advantage swelled to 68-46. Mathias Lessort came up with a three-point play for Partizan but Lipkevicius hit another triple to start a 10-0 spurt as the lead extended to 78-49. Partizan ended the quarter on a high note to make it 80-55.
Partizan scored the first 4 points of the final frame. Kaspars Berzins continued the team’s good shooting night with a three-pointer and Zemaitis’s free throws made it 87-58. Madar tried to help Partizan make it look more respectable with a pair of three-pointers among 10 points to get within 91-78 with a minute to play.
