Dolomiti Energia Trento added size to its front line with the signing of Derek Cooke on a one-year deal, the club announced Saturday. Cooke (2.06 meters, 31 years old) split last season playing between Treviso in the Italian League and Frankfurt Skyliners in the German League. He averaged 7.5 points and ranked fifth with 7.9 rebounds in Treviso jersey, and improved on those numbers in the second part of the season with the Skyliners, posting 9.3 points and 8.7 rebounds in Germany.
This will be the first BKT EuroCup campaign for Cooke, who is entering his ninth professional season. After finishing his collegiate career at the University of Wyoming, his turned pro with a brief stint with Rethymno in the Greek League. He moved to play in D-League, first with Bakersfield and then with Northern Arizona. In years to follow, Cooke played with Perth in Australia, Raptors 505 Missisauga in G-League, Hamilton in the Canadian League, Trieste in Italy, Tsmoki-Minsk in Belarus, Brose Bamberg in Germany and Hapoel Galil Gilboa in Israel.
