After serving as the first landing spot in Europe for a pair of Brazilian stars last season, ratiopharm Ulm has gone back to the South American country again to sign guard Georginho, whose full name is George Lucas Alves de Paula. Georginho (1.97 meters, 27 years old) spent the past two season with Franca Basquetebol Clube, which he led to the Basketball Champions League Americas crown last season. He was named to the All-BCL Americas First Team after averaging 14.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists in the competition.
Georginho began his professional career with Pinheiros and has also played for Paulistano and Sao Paulo FC in his native Brazil as well as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the G League in the United States. Ulm will be his first stop in Europe, much like his Brazil national teammates Yago das Santos and Bruno Caboclo last season.
