ratiopharm Ulm has signed promising young forward Alec Anigbata, the club announced Thursday. The contract will enable him to play both for Ulm's senior team as well as for OrangeAcademy, Ulm's third-division club. Anigbata (2.03 meters, 18 years old) arrives from the FC Bayern Munich youth system. Last season he averaged 6.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in Germany's third division, the ProB, as well as with 9.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in the German NBBL for players 19 and under. Anigbata was part of the extended German roster for this summer's U20 European Championship.

"I have known him very well for several years because he is the same age as my son Jacob," Ulm's youth coordinator Chris Ensminger said of Anigbata. "He has an enormous body length and wingspan. As a result, he has the ability to defend any position. He comes from a good youth program and is therefore very well-versed both technically and tactically. Alec is characterized by his professional mindset, his defense and his ability to make baskets."
