ratiopharm Ulm continued reshaping its roster for the upcoming campaign with the addition of shooting guard Dakota Mathias, the club announced on Tuesday. Last season, Mathias (1.93 meters, 28 years old) played for the Memphis Hustle in the G League, where he averaged 16.1 points on 40.5% three-point shooting, as well as 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals. He finished last season with Tenerife of the Spanish League, but made just 3 brief appearances.
For Mathias this will be his second stint in Europe. After a four-year collegiate career at Purdue, he started his professional career with Joventut Badalona in Spain in the 2018-19 campaign. The next season he returned to his native USA, and played 8 games with Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA while spending majority of the season with the Texas Legends in the G League.
Mathias spent majority of the 2021-22 season with G League Ignite, but also made 5 appearance with Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA. Mathias is now set to make his BKT EuroCup debut.
