LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne edged Olympiacos Piraeus 77-75 in Round 14 in what was a special night for star guard Nando De Colo, for many reasons. De Colo became just the third player to break the 4,000-point barrier in the competition. He reached his 4,000th point on a driving layup early in the fourth quarter and now ranks third overall in scoring with 4,002 points, trailing Vassilis Spanoulis (4,455 points) and Juan Carlos Navarro (4,152).
It is another accolade to add to his many achievements in the competition. De Colo is a two-time EuroLeague champion, was chosen as the 2015-16 EuroLeague MVP and was the competition's top scorer that season. De Colo has been named to the All-EuroLeague First Team and the All-EuroLeague Second Team three times each, is a three-time MVP of the Month award winner and has earned MVP of the Round honors 16 times, more than anyone else.
"[4,000 points] is a great achievement but it is more than scoring points," De Colo said after the game. "Like I say, I just try to do the best for the team and tonight, with the victory, it is even better."
Breaking another record, however, is probably not what made De Colo happy on Thursday night.
