Johannes Voigtmann returns to Germany, joins Bayern
FC Bayern Munich has announced the signing of Johannes Voigtmann, who has penned a three-year deal at the club.
Voigtmann (2.11 meters, 31 years old) is back in Germany after playing in Spain, Russia and Italy over the last eight years. Last season, he averaged 7.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 34 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games for EA7 Emporio Armani Milan.
The German big man is heading into his ninth EuroLeague campaign, having spent three years at Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (2016-19), three years at CSKA (2019-22) and two years with Milan (2022-24).
At Bayern, Voigtmann will join up with new Bayern head coach Gordie Herbert, who he played under with the Skyliners Frankfurt (2013-16) and the German national team (2021-24).
His professional career began with Science City Jena, where he featured between 2010 and 2012 before heading to Frankfurt. He had one year at Frankfurt prior to the arrival of Coach Herbert.
A key member of the German national team, Voigtmann was part of the squad that won the 2023 FIBA World Cup title. He also helped his nation secure a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2022 and a fourth-placed finish at the 2024 Olympic Games.
In 249 EuroLeague games, Voigtmann's career averages stand at 7.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
