ALBA Berlin has improved its record to 3-0 in the 2022-23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season after beating Panathinaikos Athens at Mercedes-Benz Arena on Wednesday night.
ALBA offense too hot to handle against Panathinaikos

Luke Sikma had a 16-point, 15-rebound double-double for ALBA in the victory, with four of his teammates – Tamir Blatt (15), Yanni Wetzell (11), Yovel Zoosman (10) and Christ Koumadje (10) – also recording double-digit scoring nights. Blatt and Sikma also had 7 and 6 assists, respectively. For Panathinaikos, Marius Grigonis had a team-high 14 points, followed by Andrew Andrews with 13 and Paris Lee with 11.

Panathinaikos was able to take a 5-6 lead with 6:20 left to go in the first quarter, but from the moment that Sikma hit a three-pointer 45 seconds later to put ALBA two in front, the Germans would never trail. The first quarter finished with ALBA leading 17-9, and while a high-scoring period for both teams followed in the second quarter, Panathinaikos went into the break trailing 43-33. Then, the game truly got away from the Greens. ALBA went on a 17-0 through the first 5:40 of play in the third quarter to go up 60-33, which all but ensured that it would record its third victory of the season. Panathinaikos tried fighting back, but ALBA's offense remained on fire as head coach Israel Gonzalez's team went on to secure a 94-65 triumph.
