Round 21 roll call: Sertac Sanli's unique achievement

Going against Walter Tavares, the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague's all-time leading shot blocker, can be intimidating. However, it wasn't that way for FC Barcelona center Sertac Sanli, despite his team's 91-86 overtime loss on Real Madrid's floor. Sanli posted a career-high 5 blocks, tying Barcelona's club record, while Tavares had 2. What's more, Sanli blocked the 2.20-meter Tavares twice. Interestingly, Tavares had never had his shot blocked 2 times in any single game during his 162-appearance EuroLeague career before this season. Back in Round 14, it happened for the first time at the hands of Zalgiris Kaunas players Kevarrius Hayes and Rolands Smits. But as of Thursday, the 2.12-meter Sanli has become the only player ever to block Tavares twice in one EuroLeague game.

Deck helped fuel Real

On the winning side in El Clásico was Gabriel Deck, who matched his career high with a PIR 33. He scored 23 points, which is the second most in Deck's career and the fifth most by a Real Madrid player this season. The 27-year-old got Real's offense going by scoring 7 points in the third quarter, before following that up with 8 more in the fourth and overtime. In addition, Deck was tied for the most rebounds by a member of Los Blancos, 7, and he also played a game-high 33 minutes.

Lee's career-best performance

Second-year point guard Paris Lee played a key role as Panathinaikos Athens rallied from 15 points down at halftime to defeat Zalgiris Kaunas 89-65 on Thursday. Lee scored 22 of his game-high and career-high 24 points in the second half. He missed his lone three-point attempt in the first half, but he was 5-for-5 from long range in the second. He also finished the game making 4-of-6 two-pointers. Lee had all 3 of his steals in the second half, as well as 2 of his 4 assists. In addition to his point total, Lee also set a new career best in PIR (27), while matching his career highs in three-point and two-point makes.

Sorkin soared despite Maccabi's loss

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv could not catch host Olympiacos Piraeus in a 95-89 loss on Friday, but it wasn't for lack of trying by Roman Sorkin. The second-year power forward shattered several of his own personal bests, including 23 points and 33 PIR, while he tied another with 9 rebounds. Sorkin nearly played mistake-free basketball, hitting 9-of-11 two-pointers and 5-of-5 free throws, two more career highs for him, while committing 0 turnovers and drawing 5 fouls.

Alexander filled a big void for Valencia

Valencia Basket extended its winning run to four games by holding off ALBA Berlin 88-94 on Thursday in the German capital. In the absence of two centers, team captain Bojan Dubljevic and Jasiel Rivero, several players stepped up, among them first-year forward Kyle Alexander. The 26-year old scored a personal-best 14 points, shooting an efficient 5-for-7 on two-pointers and making 4 perfect free throws, including a pair with 2:03 to go that put Valencia up for good, 81-83. Alexander also pulled down 4 rebounds in 21 minutes on the floor and had a PIR of 17, another personal best.

Hall dunks his way to season highs

AS Monaco big man Donta Hall played an instrumental role in his team's 101-88 win over the visiting EA7 Emporio Armani Milan. Hall finished the game with a season-high 11 points, making 5-of-6 two-point shots, and matched his season best with 8 rebounds. He also contributed with 2 steals and a block. All of Hall's points came in the first three quarters, helping Monaco set a club record with 80 points scored by the end of the third quarter. Monaco led 80-74 at that point, and it added 21 more in the fourth, breaking the 100-point barrier for the first time this season.

LeDay gave his all for Partizan

Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade pulled out a 78-79 road win over archrival Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, and in the center of it all was forward Zach LeDay. He scored 9 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter and shot 4-for-5 from long range in the game. " I just want to do whatever it takes to help my team win, whether it's giving my body, energy, effort", LeDay said afterwards to EuroLeague TV. And he did just that in a hard-fought, high-energy game where the players put everything on the line. LeDay not only played a game-high 32 minutes and 18 seconds, but he remained on the floor for all but six seconds during the second half. The American big man was the main reason why Partizan never relinquished the lead in the final three quarters, as it exacted revenge against its greatest rival.
