Round 27 MVP: Mathias Lessort, Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens
A dominant display on the road has seen Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens center Mathias Lessort earn Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Round 27 MVP honors with a round-high PIR of 33.
Lessort inspired Panathinaikos to an 86-97 win at Real Madrid, which was defeated at WiZink Center for the first time this season. The French big man posted a career-high 26 points after going 12-of-14 on two-pointers and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. Those 12 made two-pointers matched a club record in 605 EuroLeague games. Lessort also had 7 rebounds, including 3 on the offensive end, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. His 33 PIR is the fourth-highest total of his 122-game career. This is Lessort’s third MVP of the Round honor, all of which have come this season.
The second-best PIR in this round is shared between Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade guard Aleksa Avramovic and FC Barcelona center Jan Vesely, as they both had a 32 PIR. In his team’s 100-90 triumph over Anadolu Efes Istanbul, Avramovic amassed a career-best 30 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Vesely, meanwhile, posted a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double, in addition to dishing 1 assist and making 3 steals, in a 67-77 defeat to AS Monaco. Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s Wade Baldwin had a 28 PIR after recording 16 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in a dominant 71-106 triumph at ALBA Berlin. Rounding out the list of best performers in Round 27 are Partizan’s Zach LeDay and Panathinaikos’s Kostas Sloukas, both with a PIR of 27.
