Stellar Campazzo fueled Zvezda against the leaders

Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade might have learned last week that it had been officially eliminated from the playoff race, but that did not stop the Serbian giant from knocking off the league-leading Olympiacos Piraeus 87-79 on Thursday. Zvezda was able to get the victory thanks in large part to the inspirational play of Facundo Campazzo. In 29 minutes on the floor, he led the team with 20 points, 8 assists and 5 steals, which matched his career high. Campazzo was particularly impressive in the second half, as he made all 5 of his steals after the break and also scored 12 points. He finished with 6-of-9 shooting from the field, paving the way for Zvezda to grab its 16th win of the season.

Smits stepped up for must-win Zalgiris

With Zalgiris Kaunas needing a win to stay alive in the playoff race, veteran forward Rolands Smits delivered on both ends of the floor in a thrilling 68-67 win over Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv. Smits not only led the team with 13 points, making 5 of his 6 two-point shots and going 1-for-3 on threes, but he also pulled down 4 rebounds, had 2 assists and set a career high with 4 steals. Smits grabbed half of his rebounds in the final two minutes of a tight affair, having played a key role in helping Zalgiris improve to 18-15 on the season.

Nebo helped Maccabi to playoffs at his old home

Maccabi center Josh Nebo did not enjoy a winning return to his former home of Zalgirio Arena, but the big man did his part in making sure his side lost by the slimmest of margins, which was enough for the team to qualify for the 2023 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs. Nebo started the game hot and scored 6 of his 11 points in game's opening minutes, but later in the game had a bigger impact on the defensive end, blocking 3 shots to match his career high and set his season-best mark. The 25-year-old also had 3 rebounds and 1 steal in what turned out to be a loss with a happy ending for Maccabi.

Mathews enters ASVEL scoring charts

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne could not stop Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz's offense on Thursday night, but in a 120-100 loss, guard Jonah Mathews at least made sure that the team from France could keep up with the hosts for the better part of the game. Mathews finished with 25 points, going 6-of-9 from two-point range, 1-of-2 from three and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. That is not only the third-best scoring performance by ASVEL player this season, but Mathews's 25 points is tied for the second-most by an ASVEL player in a road game this century. It was quite a scoring night for Mathews, whose previous best was 18 points in a Round 28 road loss at Zalgiris.

Evans made plays for Valencia

Valencia Basket bid farewell to its fans in this EuroLeague campaign with a 79-68 home win over Virtus Segfredo Bologna, in which Shannon Evans shined in a playmaking role. A late-season addition to the team, Evans played a production-filled 16 minutes. He matched his season best with 15 points and 3 rebounds, in addition to setting new personal highs with 6 assists and 2 steals. His PIR of 23 and +15 in the plus-minus column speaks volumes about the vital role he played in Valencia's win.

LeDay used free throws as a weapon

Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade booked its ticket for the 2023 EuroLeague Playoffs with an 84-88 win at AS Monaco on Friday, a game in which Zach LeDay was a key contributor. The 28-year-old scored the joint most points for his team with 22, tied with Aleksa Abramovic, and 13 of those came from the free-throw line. LeDay went to the charity stripe a total of 14 times on the night, which is by far the most free throws that he has attempted in a game this season. Prior to Round 33, his best mark was the 8-for-8 he made against Anadolu Efes Istanbul in Round 29. What's more, LeDay kept his cool at the line in the final 1:39 against Monaco, sinking all 6 of his free throws.
