Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv maintained its strong home form by brushing aside Valencia Basket, 84-68, at Menora Mivtachim Arena on Thursday. The home team improved to 6-6 with all those wins coming in Tel Aviv, while Valencia dropped to 5-7.

Maccabi had the better of a low-scoring start, establishing a double-digit lead midway through the second quarter. The advantage grew to 14 points, 41-27, just after the break, but Valencia fought back to 49-47. A flurry of fourth-quarter offense made Maccabi comfortable, 76-58, and the visitor couldn’t respond. Lorenzo Brown paced Maccabi with 15 points and 6 assists, Darrun Hilliard added 11 points and Bonzie Colson scored 10. Xabi Lopez-Arostegui led Valencia with 15 points.

Triples from Lopez-Arostegui and Jared Harper gave Valencia the early edge, 4-8, but Maccabi moved ahead through deep strikes from John DiBartolomeo and Austin Hollins, 15-10 after 10 minutes. Wade Baldwin scored 4 points and Jake Cohen added a three to stretch the lead to 26-16. Victor Claver scored twice from deep, but dunks from Josh Nebo and Jarell Martin made it 35-27 at the break.
Brown and Baldwin hit triples to open the third, but Lopez-Arostegui scored twice to keep Valencia in contention, 47-42, and Klemen Prepelic’s triple made it 49-47. Maccabi lost Baldwin to injury, but Roman Sorkin scored twice early in the fourth to restore a double-digit lead, 62-52. Threes from Brown and Hollins took Maccabi further ahead, sealing the win.
