Bahcesehir keeps do-it-all swingman Mateusz Ponitka

Bahcesehir College Istanbul announced a new agreement with Mateusz Ponitka to keep working together until the end of the 2025-26 season, the club announced Saturday.
Ponitka (1.98 meters, 31 years old) averaged 8.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 16 BKT EuroCup games last season, helping Bahcesehir reach the semifinals. He started his professional career in his native Poland, playing for Kasprowiczanka Ostrow Wlk, AZS Politechnika Warszawa and Asseco Prokom Gydnia before joining Belgian side Telenet Ostend. Ponitka also played for Stelmet Zielona Gora of Poland, Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir of Turkiye, Iberostar Tenerife of Spain, Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar and Zenit St. Petersburg of Russia, Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens of Greece and Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade of Serbia.
Ponitka won two Polish League titles with Prokom in 2012 and Zielona Gora in 2016, claimed back-to-back Belgian League doubles with Ostend in 2014 and 2015, helped Tenerife win the 2018 Intercontinental Cup title. He was chosen as the 2015-16 EuroCup Rising Star, averaging 13.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and a PIR of 17.3 in 10 games with Zielona Gora. He was also named to the 2015-16 All-EuroCup Second Team. Ponitka is also a member of the Polish national team, and helped its U17 squad get a silver medal at the 2010 World Cup. In 75 EuroCup career games with Ostend, Zielona Gora, Lokomotiv and Bahcesehir, Ponitka averages 9.4 points and 4.2 rebounds. He has played 145 EuroLeague games with Prokom, Zielona Gora, Zenit, Panathinaikos and Partizan, averaging 7.2 points and 47 rebounds.
