On Sunday afternoon, we asked some former players and experts on the matter what they expect from the championship game, who they expect to win and who they think will be chosen as the Final Four MVP.
The two time Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion and the 2022 EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic is in Berlin and looking forward to the championship game between Real Madrid and Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens. In an exclusive interview with EuroLeague.net, Micic gives his take on the matchup, and who he thinks will win the EuroLeague crown on Sunday night.
Final Four Ambassador Ramunas Siskauskas, who won two EuroLeague titles and was chosen as the 2008 EuroLeague MVP, expects a close game between the best two teams this season playing the best basketball. When it comes to picking, Siskauskas gives a 51-49% advantage to one team – Real Madrid.
Rimantas Kaukenas, the GM of Wolves Vilnius and a veteran of eight EuroLeague seasons between 2005 and 2014 has a clear favorite. One of those seasons was spent with Real Madrid and he both believes and wants Los Blancos to repeat as champion.
Jan Jagla, a Berlin native, won the EuroCup with Joventut Badalona in 2008. He recalls fondly his time there alongside Rudy Fernandez, whom he will be rooting for tonight in the championship game. When asked about what he expects from the championship game, the veteran of four EuroLeague seasons said he was leaning towards Rudy’s team in what will be the swingman’s final EuroLeague appearance.
