The [Besiktas GAIN Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/besiktas-gain-istanbul/bes/) forward has been thinking about it all season. And he assures that a change is in the works. 

Brown knows his three-point shooting this season has been down. His 35.7% coming into [Besiktas’s latest BKT EuroCup game against Lietkabelis Panevezys](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/besiktas-shows-late-game-poise-takes-ot-thriller-over-lietkabelis/) may be okay for other players, but not for him. 

“It honestly makes me sick thinking about it right now. So we don’t even need to talk about this season. We know what I can do,” Brown told David Hein. 

The 30-year-old talked to the EuroCup website just days before the Lietkabelis game, and he already showed what he is all about, hitting 3-of-5 three-pointers for 13 points to go with 6 rebounds, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

To give a further aspect of how he had been struggling, take away his 3-of-4 three-point shooting night in Round 2 against the London Lions and Brown’s three-point accuracy in the other EuroCup games falls to 7 of 24 for 29.2%. And that was on his mind.

"Because that’s what you’re paid to do. Anybody can throw the ball up there. You’ve got to take accountability. If this is your job and people are counting on you, you’ve got to deliver,” he said.

“Every pro goes through slow times or slumps. There are adjustments – new team, new system, new teammates – and you can’t put too much pressure on yourself, which is hard at this level because you want to be the best for yourself and your team. But I’m working to correct it every time I step on the floor.”

Brown has been a rock of high-level shooting consistency thus far in his career. He made 40.0% on three-pointers in his rookie season at Le Mans in France and followed that with 38.3% in Spain in 2021-22 with Real Betis Sevilla in Spain. In 2022-23 at Pinar Karsiyaka, Brown made 44.5% in the Turkish League but 31.3% in the Basketball Champions League. Those numbers were 44.3% in Turkiye and 48.7% in the BCL in 2023-24 with Karsiyaka. 

Last season with EuroLeague side AS Monaco, he nailed 50.0% from long range in the French League but struggled with his confidence and consistency in the EuroLeague, making just 28.6% on threes. 

“I work on my shot every day. Thousands and thousands of reps. So when I hear those numbers, it doesn’t surprise me. I just need to get back to them, and I will,” he said.

Brown’s return to France last season did not go as he had hoped. He was getting solid minutes from the beginning of the season until early January, averaging 17 minutes in the EuroLeague and 20 minutes in the French League. His numbers then started dipping and he suffered a knee injury in early February that would end up costing him nearly two months. 

By the time he returned to full health, the playoffs were nearing and Brown played just 8 minutes in one playoff game against FC Barcelona, while he did get more run in the French League. 

“It’s the most frustrating thing. You work for years to get to that level. You were brought there because of what you did the two years before. Now it’s your time to show. To not be able to fully show that for various reasons was tough,” Brown remembered. “Some things were out of your control. It taught me a lot. Life isn’t always fair. Basketball isn’t always fair. The real pros continue to work despite that adversity. I think I really grew from that year.”

When the topic of the 2025-26 came up, Brown received a call from current Besiktas head coach Dusan Alimpijevic. 

“I knew him from when we (Karsiyaka) beat them in the (2022-23) playoffs when he was at Bursaspor. I knew his quality,” Brown said. “I had different options, some other EuroLeague options for less money and less opportunity. I felt like this was the right fit. 

“He told me about the roster they were building and it felt right. I wanted to stay in Europe. They still have goals to reach the next EuroLeague level, and we have a roster that might be capable of doing it.”

Brown chose Besiktas knowing he would be needed to be an outside threat from the four-man spot. And both he and the team hope the game against Lietkabelis is a sign of things to come.

Jakimovski led Trento to a 73-91 road victory over Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse with 30 points on 8-of-10 two-pointers, 2-of-5 three-pointers and 8-of-9 free throws, adding 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 10 fouls drawn for a PIR of 43, the highest in Round 10. Jakimovski earned MVP of the Round honors for the first time in his career, and he is the fifth Trento player to do so, after Dominique Sutton, Dustin Hogue, Alessandro Gentile and Luke Maye, the last Trento player to secure MVP of the Round honors in 2021.

[Michael Flowers](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/michael-flowers/014159/) of Lietkabelis Panevezys amassed a PIR of 35 in his team's 94-85 overtime road loss against Besiktas GAIN Istanbul. Flowers finished the game with 27 points on 4-of-8 two-pointers, 3-of-6 three-pointers and 10-of-11 free throws, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, 1 block and 6 fouls drawn.

[Bryce Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/bryce-jones/012621/) of Aris Thessaloniki Betsson inspired his team to a 90-86 home victory over Umana Reyer Venice with 20 points on 7-of-14 two-pointers and 6-of-7 free throws, 5 rebounds, 12 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and 8 fouls drawn, good for a PIR of 33.

[Kadre Gray](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/kadre-gray/013921/) of Slask Wroclaw and [Trevion Williams](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/trevion-williams/012604/) of Bahcesehir College Istanbul each amassed a PIR of 28. Williams was dominant in his team securing an 84-72 home win over U-BT Cluj-Napoca with 22 points on 9-of-17 two-pointers and 4-of-4 free throws, 15 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 3 fouls drawn. Gray had 24 points on 7-pf-11 two-pointers and 10-of-13 free throws, 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 12 fouls drawn in his team's 103-87 overtime road loss against Neptunas Klaipeda.

### Individual highs: Trevion Williams, Bahcesehir, 15 rebounds

Andrej Jakimovski was this week's top scorer with 30 points. Fatts Russell of Cluj is the competition's top scorer with 22.0 points per night.

Trevion Williams led all rebounders by pulling down 15. Zacharie Perrin of Veolia Towers Hamburg leads the overall standings with 8.2 rebounds per game.

Bryce Jones dished 12 assists, more than anyone else in Round 10. Arnas Velicka of Neptunas tops the assists charts with 7.4 dimes per contest.

Jaylen Hands of Panionios Cosmorama Travel Athens, Dogus Ozdemiroglu of Turk Telekom Ankara and Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana’s DJ Stewart each collected 4 steals to lead this round's standings. Odzemiroglu is also first overall with 2.8 steals per night.

Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu of BAXI Manresa was Round 10's top shot blocker, rejecting 4 attempts. Balsa Koprivica is the competition's leader in blocks with 1.7 per game.

Williams (22 points, 15 rebounds), Jones, Djordjevic (18 points, 12 rebounds), Nighael Ceaser of Cluj (11 points, 11 rebounds), Kris Bankston of Turk Telekom (15 points, 13 rebounds), and Amadou Sow of NINERS Chemnitz (19 points, 10 rebounds) each registered a double-double in Round 10.

BAXI Manresa played arguably its best game so far in this BKT EuroCup season, downing Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana 99-82 at Nou Congost to get its fifth win in 10 games. 

Manresa's next-man-up mentality pays off against Cedevita

[BAXI Manresa](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/baxi-manresa/man/) played arguably its best game so far in this BKT EuroCup season, downing [Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/cedevita-olimpija-ljubljana/lju/) 99-82 at Nou Congost to get its fifth win in 10 games. 

Cedevita arrived at Nou Congost on a four-game winning streak and Manresa still has to find a replacement for Alfonso Plummer, who parted ways with the team. Plummer had buried 20-of-39 three-pointers (51.3% 3FG) so far this season, with the rest of the team combining for 56 of 204 until now (27.5% 3FG), so it would have made sense for his absence to be felt.

It gets better. [Pierre Oriola](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/pierre-oriola/005917/) and [Hugo Benitez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/hugo-benitez/010449/) had combined for a PIR of 53 in [Round 9's home victory over Veolia Towers Hamburg](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/pierre-oriola-becomes-manresas-x-factor-in-round-9/). Both Oriola and Benitez picked up two quick fouls and were already on the bench in less than 6 minutes of action. Neither player regained their rhythm against Cedevita, combining for 7 points and a PIR of 8. Benitez was limited to just 11 minutes due to a hamstring injury, which gave 17-year-old prospect [Gerard Fernandez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/gerard-fernandez/013498/) the chance to make his EuroCup debut.

Good teams turn adversity into an opportunity, and this is exactly what Manresa did as several players stepped up to make Manresa keep a safe lead most of the way. 

[Gustav Knudsen](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/gustav-knudsen/009359/) surprised Cedevita with a great performance. Before this game, Knudsen averaged 1.0 points on 0-of-6 three-pointers in seven games, good for a PIR of 0. Knudsen came off the bench and soon knocked down a couple of bombs from downtown. He finished the game with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, 3 rebounds and a PIR of 12 in just 15 minutes. [Marcis Steinbergs](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/marcis-steinbergs/013848/) had a season-high 13 points on 3-of-5 three-pointers, 5 rebounds and a PIR of 17.

"We are very proud of our players. All of them are using the opportunity to improve and play very well, to play with character," Coach Ocampo said after the game. "I think we are improving every week. The thing is that we need players, because Hugo \[Benitez\] had a hamstring injury, we will see what happens, and in the end, you have less players and the risk is higher."

When Benitez got into foul trouble, [Retin Obasohan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/retin-obasohan/011938/) knew his number would be called and played one of the best games of the season. Obasohan needed just 20 points to get 16 points on 5-of-6 two-pointers (missing what would have been the biggest dunk of the season), 3 assists, 10 fouls drawn and a PIR of 17.

"I think that for us, it is important to play all 40 minutes. That's usually what we want to do, that's our philosophy, our mentality. We just want to make sure, especially as the season goes on, our capacity to play good basketball keeps increasing," Obasohan said after the game. 

"These wins helps us have more confidence. I think that we play, we compete and try to get better every single minutes, whether it is in practices or games, so to get a win while we are focused on improving, that definitely gives us a boost of confidence to believe in what we are doing."

Manresa led 46-38 at halftime and soon boosted its margin to 56-38 after the break, keeping a safe margin the rest of the way. It outrebounded Cedevita 25-14 in the second half, finishing the game with 16 offensive boards, 12 of them after the break. It also limited Cedevita to really low percentages (47.4% 2FG, 28.0% 3FG), dishing 21 assists against just 11 turnovers.

Despite its injury problems, Manresa is finding ways to be effective and win games at home. The next step is winning on the road, where Manresa only collected one victory against Aris Thessaloniki Betsson. It will get another chance to do so right away, as Manresa visits Slask Wroclaw in Round 11.

Just over two months later, he registered a career-high 12 assists as Aris opened the second half of the season by sweeping the Italian team.

Reyer hit the ground running and took an early 13-17 lead courtesy of 11 quick points from [Ky Bowman](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/ky-bowman/013928/), who went 3 for 3 from beyond the arc.

But Aris fired on all cylinders from deep to respond with a 20-2 run that allowed the hosts to grab a 33-22 lead heading into the second quarter.

After managing its best first-quarter scoring output in EuroCup history, the Greek side went on to break a club record for the most points netted at halftime by getting 56 before the break, with Jones thriving on the floor. The Aris guard had already set a new personal record in assists by bagging 9 to go with his 10 first-half points.

Reyer did bounce back and tightened up its defense, holding Aris to just 14 points in the third quarter. Having absorbed Reyer’s last comeback push, the hosts maintained their lead to secure a huge victory in their hunt for a playoff spot.

As for Jones, he didn't hesitate to hail his coach, Igor Milicic, for putting him to the test ahead of Wednesday’s clash.

“Shoutout to Coach for challenging me this week,” Jones said after the game. “He said some things that got me going, that got me fired up. I am a player who is always going to do my best to respond.”

By halftime Aris had already recorded 15 assists, better its season average across 40 minutes (14.2 apg.). With 1:26 to go in the third quarter, it had grabbed 34 rebounds – just over their season average of 33.8 boards.

Despite coming into the game against Reyer averaging a league-low 9.0 offensive rebounds, Aris ended the game with as many as 15 – its joint-highest mark this season.

Meanwhile, the Greek side had a season-high 44 rebounds and registered a club-record 24 assists, half of which were produced by an outstanding Jones.

The hosts also protected the ball well on the offensive end, as they had 10 turnovers – more than 6 less than their season average.

And as Jones stressed after the game, practicing well ahead of a game leads to delivering on the court.

“Coming from a tough loss \[at home to U-BT Cluj-Napoca\], you just want to always bounce back, have the right mentality, just being positive moving forward,” he added. “I just want to shout out my teammates for just having a great week of practice. And you know, when you practice good, you play good and we came out with the win.”

Having secured the head-to-head advantage over Reyer, Aris will look to climb up the standings in the remainder of the season. And with Jones balling as he did on Wednesday night, clinching a playoff spot should be considered a highly realistic target.

Turk Telekom Ankara finished a tough spell in the schedule by sweeping two road games in Germany thanks to some strong focus, which has seen it remain one of the hottest teams in the competition.

Turk Telekom held [ratiopharm ulm](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/ratiopharm-ulm/ulm/) down defensively in rolling to a 53-87 victory after having [beaten NINERS Chemnitz 87-63 on the road](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/strong-defense-carries-turk-telekom-to-victory-in-chemnitz/) in Round 9 last Thursday for a 7-3 record, including seven wins in the last eight games. 

“We are starting to understand everybody’s role in the team. We are starting to share the ball in the right way. And everybody is happy with each other’s success. And that is the great chemistry. I always say: As long as you have good chemistry, you have the potential to do good things,” said Turk Telekom head coach Erdem Can.

The Turkish side came into the game knowing it not only lost to Ulm in the first game of the season but also that it could not slow down the German side, losing 93-96 at home. And that contest was definitely on the team’s collective minds.

“We knew that the Ulm team has great potential and we saw that in the first game by receiving 96 points,” Coach Can said. “We were focused really defensively and I think in the first quarter we opened the game very strong defensive-wise. But in the first quarter, we played with Ulm’s rhythm offensively. That is why we had the turnovers. After that we picked up our pace, also offensively, played smart, also shared the ball in the right way. We knew we’re going to play against a tough, talented team. But we managed to finish the game strong.”

The first quarter was something for the record books. First off, Ulm missed its first 12 shots and committed 5 turnovers in failing to score in the first 8:17 minutes of the game. But Turk Telekom could not really do much at its end either, and the first quarter ended 4-10.

The 14 points in the first quarter tied the EuroCup record for the fewest combined points in a quarter – evening the mark from the third quarter between ALBA Berlin and BCM Gravelines Dunkerque (8-6) from November 5, 2013.

Turk Telekom got its offense going and pushed the lead to 13 points in the second quarter, with the cushion growing to 21 points after three quarters. The guests just pouring it on in the final 10 minutes. 

“We just came together as a team and we rallied. We just played good this week,” said [Kris Bankston](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/kris-bankston/012760/), who paced five Turk Telekom players in double figures with 15 points and 13 rebounds – tying his personal best in scoring and setting a new mark for rebounds. “We just stuck to the principles and played better defense in the second half.”

All 10 players who played scored, and Coach Can really used his depth to help his team overcome the mental burden of three road games in the span of six days – at Chemnitz last Thursday, at Erokspor in the Turkish League last Sunday, and at Ulm on Wednesday evening. And the coach praised his guys’ mental toughness.

“It was very important for us to keep the energy. That is the mental part. Of course fatigue is one point, but our guys handled that by staying focused. And we tried to share the minutes,” he said. 

At the other end, Ulm continues to struggle, having lost four straight and six of the last seven EuroCup games for a 4-6 record. In all competitions, Ulm has lost 11 of its last 13 games. 

“Disappointed with the final score. Getting blown out like that is not what we want. But we saw them do it to Chemnitz last week. Turk Telekom is on a roll right now. A really strong team,” Ulm play-caller Ty Harrelson said. “When you play against a team like Turk Telekom, which is among the top in the EuroCup, and you get down by eight or 10, you have to have some poise and we are missing that a little bit right now.”

Ulm is still without [Chris Ledlum](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/christopher-ledlum/013968/) as well as veteran point guard [Tommy Klepeisz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/thomas-klepeisz/010582/). However, the true difference was made in the third period, when Andrej Zakelj’s team ramped up their defensive effort, severely limiting London’s scoring opportunities and capitalizing on the other end, widening the ultimately insurmountable margin.

“We started the third quarter much better on defense, much more aggressive,” said Zakelj. “With [\[Oleksandr\] Kovliar](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/oleksandr-kovliar/013247/) at point guard, we put much more pressure on and everybody else became more aggressive. That gave us a good result in the third quarter, and then offense is much easier to play when you are good on defense.”

His counterpart, Lions coach Tautvydas Sabonis, expected a third-quarter shut-down but was disappointed with his team’s reaction to it.

“The physicality in the second half was expected and we didn’t answer,” Sabonis bemoaned. “They played a very good second half and we didn’t show up.”

Before the game, the Lithuanian coach pinpointed Buducnost forward [Rasheed Sulaimon](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/rasheed-sulaimon/011150/) as a major threat. “They've got Sulaimon, who is a veteran in this league, certified bucket getter.” Well, he was right. The 31-year-old enjoyed a well-rounded display, adding 6 assists to his 16-point scoring display, while shooting 3 for 3 from downtown and not committing a turnover throughout the contest.

“I am satisfied with our team’s performance,” said Sulaimon. “I’m just going out there to play as hard as I can. Today, I got into a rhythm and my teammates found me. I think, overall, the energy and defense was great. I’m just happy for this win.”

Last week’s loss to JL Bourg-en-Bresse snapped a five-game winning streak for Buducnost. Sulaimon stressed the importance of the win as his side hopes to build added momentum.

“It was a very important win, especially coming off a loss against Bourg. We have to get into a good rhythm now, we’re in a good position but we’re still hungry and want more.”

Of course, he was helped by his teammates. [Nikola Tanaskovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/nikola-tanaskovic/005637/) led Buducnost in scoring, doing all of his damage in the paint. The result moves Buducnost to 7-3 for the season, putting it level with Turk Telekom Ankara in the standings. It will face Dolomiti Energia Trento next Tuesday. London slides to an even 5-5 for its EuroCup campaign and hopes to pull off an upset versus table-topping Besiktas GAIN Istanbul in a week’s time.

Coming off an impressive road win over Bahcesehir College Istanbul in Round 8 — fueled by a remarkable 18-of-36 shooting from three-point range — Neptunas's supporters could hardly believe their eyes early in this one. Winless away from home all season, Slask came out firing, storming to an 11–28 lead with just two minutes left in the first quarter. Meanwhile, Neptunas went ice-cold from deep, connecting on just 2-of-12 attempts after 10 minutes.

“We started the game very slow, very slow,” admitted Neptunas forward [Aurimas Majauskas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/aurimas-majauskas/003215/). “They outrebounded us, outmatched us with \[their\] energy, so Coach told us we needed to bring that energy. That’s what we did — we crashed the boards, moved the ball, and found the open man to make the shot.”

Neptunas steadily chipped away at the deficit, trimming it to six (40–46) by halftime and finally grabbing its first lead midway through the third quarter, 49–48. From there, the game turned into a back-and-forth battle, with several ties and lead changes that kept the crowd on edge.

Despite its control on the boards — 21 rebounds over the first 35 minutes — Neptunas struggled to seize full command due to uncharacteristically poor three-point shooting. For a team averaging 38% from beyond the arc this season, its 7-of-32 (21.8%) performance was unusually low. When [Arnas Berucka](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/arnas-berucka/006154/) missed a potential game-winner following [Kadre Gray](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/kadre-gray/013921/)’s tying basket at 83–83, the duel went to overtime.

That extra period, however, belonged entirely to Neptunas. “Yeah, \[we played\] much, much better,” smiled head coach Gediminas Petrauskas afterward. “We need to understand why we started so slowly, but the most important thing is that the support from our fans gave us that extra push in the second half. The overtime, overall, was spectacular.”

Berucka made amends immediately by knocking down the three-pointer he had missed in regulation. Neptunas hit two more from deep to cap a 20–4 overtime run, playing its best basketball of the night when it mattered most. There was a calm confidence about its approach, one rooted in experience.

“We played another overtime on Sunday, so you know, it's a similar situation”, Majauskas reflected. “Today, we were calm. We were ready. We already did this, so we knew what we had to do.”

For Coach Petrauskas, that late resilience carried an extra meaning. “The most important thing is the team victory,” he said. “And especially because we won by more points than we lost in Poland. So, it seems like our last missed shot in the fourth quarter kind of came \[being\] into a positive thing.”

From a dreadful start to an emphatic overtime show, Neptunas turned a potential nightmare into one of its most satisfying wins of the season.

Bahcesehir entered the night searching for a reset after two straight losses. As the game unfolded, the home team seized control, using a fourth-quarter push to secure an important victory.

‘‘This is a hell of a way to bounce back. We just wanna keep building on this,’’ said [Trevion Williams](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/trevion-williams/012604/) after a solid double-double performance.

All night long, Williams anchored Bahcesehir inside, powering the offense and controlling the boards. His impact was steady, hitting a double-double early in the third quarter. He closed the night with 22 points and 15 rebounds.

After three balanced quarters, the turning point of the game came in the fourth, where Bahcesehir’s defense fully took over. The home side opened the final frame with a 17-0 run and held Cluj to just 10 points in the period. Most importantly, the Istanbul side kept the league’s highest-scoring team, averaging 96.9 points, to just 72 on the night.

‘‘We needed this one bad,’’ Bahcesehir coach Marko Barac stated afterward. ‘‘This is why probably in some parts of the game we were too nervous offensively. But in the fourth quarter we managed to find our advantages and to stay confident in the clutch moments to make two open shots for a very important win.’’

[Malachi Flynn](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/malachi-flynn/013908/) kept Bahcesehir in the game early with two key threes and 9 points in the first quarter. He made his impact felt again in the fourth, helping extend the lead and finishing with 18 points. His second-quarter buckets gave the offense a spark, and he finished with 12 points. Cluj coach Mihai Silvasan said: ‘‘I think it was an interesting game and close fight until the fourth quarter, when we just didn’t find the right shots, we turned the ball over. We didn’t manage to handle well their aggressive defense, and the result was 28-10 in the fourth quarter… That’s basketball, you know; you need to play consistent and good until the end.’’

Beyond the arc, neither team found much rhythm, with Bahcesehir hitting 7 of 27 and Cluj 6 of 18 from deep.

In Round 11, Bahcesehir will try to carry its momentum on the road to face Umana Reyer Venice, while Cluj will host Neptunas Klaipeda at home.

After winning a championship in Mexico, the veteran forward wasted no time in signing with BAXI Manresa and returning to the BKT EuroCup for the first time since 2017, which he discussed with Javier Gancedo

Pierre Oriola: 'All the factors were positive for my return to Manresa'

Pierre Oriola’s basketball journey has come full circle. Eight years after playing in the EuroCup Finals with Valencia Basket, the Spanish big man is back in the competition wearing the colors of BAXI Manresa, a club he knows well and calls home. His return comes after a whirlwind few months that saw him lift the Mexican League trophy with Fuerza Regia Monterrey before boarding a flight to Spain just two days later.

“It was from one day to the next,” Oriola told Javier Gancedo. “They told me what they wanted from me, what they expected I could contribute, and I didn’t think about it. Being close to my family, my wife and my son, being in a place that I consider like my home, where I started my sports career, and starting a third stint with the team… all the factors were positive for my return.”

**Congratulations on the win. I suppose that after four consecutive losses, Manresa needed a win to get back on track and that's what you did. How important was that?**

"Regardless of whether the opponent was in a bad or good situation, we wanted to win in front of our fans, get back to winning ways, regain the feeling of the game and we did it. I think we played a very serious game. The first quarter was even, but from there, I think we dominated in all aspects of the game and we were able to win, which brings us a little closer to the top six teams. We are now in fifth place, despite the fact that there are many teams tied, but we are within the \[playoffs\] cut and that's a bit what we want, we want to keep adding wins, especially when we play at home, and try to finish as high up as possible."

 

**I guess you didn't need a lot of adaptation under a club you know, or a place you know, or two leagues you played in before. You arrived in good shape, too. How did it all help you play great right away?**

"It was very easy, as you say, because I came from a three-month stint in Mexico, and in the end, it's not about being at home and training on your own, it's about the rhythm of the competition. I know the ACB very well, I also played the EuroCup with Valencia a few years ago, and also with Baloncesto Sevilla, so it was an extra motivation I had to be in Manresa, a club I know, a club I'm in for the third time. I was very excited to be able to play the double competition and play the EuroCup, because I hadn't played it for many years, and it is very competitive now."

**How was it to play in Mexico and win the league?**

"The experience was very good, on a life level and on a human level. I got to know a country I probably wouldn't have known. I would have rarely thought I would have ended up in Mexico, unless I had gone to Cancun or Los Cabos on vacation, but I wouldn't have imagined being able to live three months in Mexico. So, on a human level and on a life level, it was very good. On a basketball level, very different from what I'm used to, a very physical league, not on a physical level, but on a contact level. A much more American basketball, with eight Americans on the roster, where one-on-one is played a lot, so it's not my style of play, but I adapted very well and, in the end, we were rewarded by winning the league."

 

**I suppose you have a bit of a grudge against the EuroCup after losing Game 3 of the 2017 EuroCup Finals against Unicaja. How excited are you to return to the EuroCup?**

"It makes me very excited, because right now I think the EuroCup is at a very high level of teams and it's very, very competitive. Any of the 10 teams in the group we are in are strong. Hamburg is not doing well this year, but last year they were one of the teams that was fighting to qualify, too, and it was a solid team, so I think it is a very competitive league. And I do have that pending issue. I have it because I think we were the best long-term team during the whole competition \[in 2017\], but when the time came, we couldn't materialise it and Malaga was better, both in the second game and in the third."

 

**And in the meantime, eight tears have passed and you've had a lot of success: Spanish League champion with two different teams, Spanish Copa del Rey champion, even World Cup champion with Spain and EuroLeague finalist with FC Barcelona. How does it feel to return to Manresa and the EuroCup with such incredible experiences in your basketball bag?**

"A lot of good things have happened to me, I mean, it's been eight years, I have had a lot of experiences. I have also had an injury that kept me away from basketball for a few months and it was hard for me to get my level back and so on, but well, I think it's both experiences and learning that life gives you and, in this case, basketball. I would tell you that since I left, a lot of good things have happened, most of them good. As I said, it was a shame not to win the EuroCup and at the same time, on this path, I had the opportunity to play two EuroLeague Final Fours and lose a Championship Game, which I think is also one of those little thorns that I will have in my career. But also if I look back, years ago or when I started, I would have never imagined that everything I have done so far would have happened. And I think that's the important thing at the end."

'Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu gives us a spectacular highlight every day'

**Your new teammate Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu could easily be one of the most athletic players we have seen at any level. You have played with a lot of people, have you seen anything similar to Kao?**

"No. He is one of the most spectacular players in terms of jump timing, explosiveness, highlight plays... one of the best I have seen, if not the best! It is spectacular how high he jumps and the timing he has. He still has to improve his decision-making, especially when he goes to the hoop, they throw the ball up, he wants to finish right away and many times it would be good for him to catch the ball and not to try to finish it right away because many times there is a previous contact and he gets out of balance, but the truth is that it's amazing to see him and every day he gives us a spectacular highlight, whether it's with a big block or a huge dunk. He is incredible."

 

**What about Hugo Benitez? He has been incredibly consistent so far, but has been a bit unnoticed until now... For a pick-and-roll player like you, having Benitez in the team must be a blessing.**

"I want to be honest. He is the one who has surprised me the most of all. He seems to me a player with huge talent who can play at the highest level. Added to the talent he has, his court vision when it comes to passing, when it comes to playing, and the character he shows when he plays is amazing. He is 24 years old, but he has been playing for five or six years in the EuroCup with Bourg and this year in Manresa, and you see him with personality, you see him with character, you see that his pulse does not tremble at any time when it comes to making decisions, when it comes to wanting the ball in important moments. It is my humble opinion, that of Pierre Oriola, it is a matter of time before EuroLeague team bets on him, and I think it will go very well, because he is a point guard for the present, which he already is, but also for the future."

Hugo Benitez is 'a player with huge talent who can play at the highest level.'

**Your next game is against Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana. Its sports director, Chechu Mulero, signed you at Valencia and almost a decade later, here you go again, him in Ljubljana and you in Manresa. What will be the key to the game?**

"First things first, I am very thankful to Chechu. Him and Pedro \[Martinez\] were the people who took me to Valencia, and they gave me that leap in my career. Without them, everything that followed would probably never happened, so I am very thankful. I was able to play with the national team, I was in Barca, so he is one of those people who gave me the opportunity, and obviously, I did the work, I took advantage of it, but I thank him a lot.

"About the game, I think we have to be solid. Cedevita is a team with a lot of experience, with a lot of talented players, a team that leads our group standings. We face a team designed to go through rounds and to be at the top of the EuroCup. Being us, especially at home, we have to play with our identity, run the break as many times as we can, try to dominate the rebounds, and above all, give a high pace to the game. I think that when we are able to dominate that high pace, to pass the ball from one side to the other, it is very difficult for the teams to play at the pace that we set in the game, and those are more options of victory for us."

 

**It took you just a few hours to sign for Manresa after lifting the trophy in Mexico? Did everything click, or were you talking about it already?**

"It was from one day to the next. I mean, this was not much talked about before or anything, but I finished on Monday, and on Wednesday I was talking with both with \[general manager\] Biel Corominas and \[head coach\] Diego Ocampo on the phone. They had just finished the game in Romania against Cluj and they called me. They told me a little bit about what they wanted from me, what they expected that I could contribute, and I didn't think about it. Being close to my family, my wife and my son, which is very important for me, being in a place that I consider like my home, where I started my sports career, and starting a third stint with the team. So, let's say that all the factors and everything were positive for my return, and I think it was the moment, after coming from an experience like this, and with this positive energy that I had for winning the Mexican League, I think it was the perfect scenario. We signed it as soon as possible, and just the next day I was flying to Spain."

 

**Manresa is a new EuroCup team and you hadn't played the competition for a long time. What are your expectations?**

"I think we are a club that in the last few years has shown the ambition that we have, despite being one of the most humble projects both in Europe and in the ACB, but I think we have an ambition that starts with our fans, who are very demanding, but at the same time they always respond both when the team is doing well and when it's not. I think we have to take one game at a time, it's a new competition for us, a new scenario against high-level opponents with a lot of talent. The EuroCup has improved a lot in the last few years and there are great teams built to win it and go to the EuroLeague the following season, so our goal is to go game by game. I personally would like to go past the regular season. I think it's doable, but to do that, we have to be strong at home. We have to win all of our home games and try to add one win on the road."

Jerusalem never trailed and controlled most of the game to improve to 8-2, staying tied for the top spot in Group A, while Hamburg fell to 0-10. Yet the night was about more than the scoreboard — it was about EuroCup basketball being back in Israel.

“When we got the news \[that the game would take place in Israel\], it was obviously a challenge because of everything that happened in recent years,” Hamburg coach Benka Barloschky said. “But the hospitality was great. The hotel was great. The food is always good in Tel Aviv. The atmosphere tonight was special. I’m happy for everyone who came and just focused on basketball for two and a half hours.”

Barloschky called Jerusalem the best team in the group and a contender for the title. His counterpart, Yonatan Alon, emphasized the impact of playing at home.

“Our fans are amazing — that’s what we were missing,” Alon said. “Sometimes when you’re sleepwalking through a game and the opponent isn’t great, the crowd lifts you and boom — you’ve won the game. When the fans are here, cheering and singing, there’s no way not to gain momentum.”

That momentum showed in the third quarter when Hamburg cut the lead to four. [Josiah-Jordan James](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/josiah-jordan-james/013906/) answered with a three-pointer, and [Cassius Winston](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/cassius-winston/011940/) added free throws as Jerusalem pulled away before sealing the win in the fourth.

Jerusalem’s trio of star guards combined for 57 points and 7 assists. Reigning EuroCup MVP [Jared Harper](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jared-harper/011970/) added 17 points and a season-high 6 rebounds for a PIR of 25.

“It was great to have our fans, have that atmosphere to kind of push us through the game,” Harper said. “This wasn’t our best game of the season, but we were able to feed off the energy of the fans and do what we're supposed to do, which is win, so it was good.”

For Hamburg, the game was more than just about serving as the opponent for Jerusalem's homecoming. Twenty-one-year-old center [Zacharie Perrin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/zacharie-perrin/011579/) had what his coach called his “best game so far” with 16 points and 8 rebounds.

“I'm very proud of my team that — against a physical team like this, against a very good defensive team like this — we only covered 10 turnovers, so we took care of the ball,” Barloschky said before going on to highlight his team's rebounding and effort.

"We kept it close for the whole game and we had Hapoel on the edge for a couple of minutes in every quarter and that's a very good step for us, so good performance," Barloschky summed up.

Turk Telekom swept its two games in Germany within a week by easing past Ulm 53-87 to continue its rise up the Group B standings. After winning at NINERS Chemnitz in Round 9, Turk Telekom held Ulm scoreless for the first 8:17 minutes for a 0-8 lead, and the score was 4-10 after 10 minutes. The 14 combined points in the first quarter tied the EuroCup record for the fewest combined points in a quarter, evening the mark from the third quarter between ALBA Berlin vs. BCM Gravelines Dunkerque (8-6) from November 5, 2013. Turk Telekom pushed the lead to 13 points in the second quarter and the cushion was 21 points after three quarters to decide the game.

Turk Telekom improved to 7-3 in the group with a 5-1 road record and seven wins in the last eight games. Kris Bankston led the way with 15 points and a career-best 13 rebounds, Berkan Durmaz had 12 points among five players in double figures. Ulm for its part has dropped four in a row and six of its last seven for a 4-6 record. Mark Smith paced Ulm with 17 points.

Buducnost earned a lead after just two minutes and managed to hold it until the final seconds of the opening quarter, when London edged ahead. The game was won after halftime, however, when Andrej Zakelj’s team picked up their defensive effort, taming the Lions on defense and capitalizing on the other end. Buducnost controlled the pace down the stretch and when the buzzer sounded, the Montenegrin team had secured the 94-63 victory.

Nikola Tanaskovic led Buducnost in scoring, doing all of his damage in the paint. Rasheed Sulaimon enjoyed a well-rounded display, adding 6 assists to his 16-point scoring display. Axel Bouteille and Juwan Morgan also boosted their team with double-digit scoring. Tarik Phillip record 16 rebounds, 4 boards and 5 dimes in defeat. Aris swept Reyer by beating the Italian side 90-86 at Palais des Sports on Wednesday evening. The visitors started strong and took a 13-17 lead, with Ky Bowman taking his tally to 11 early points. But Aris responded with a 20-2 run to secure a 33-22 advantage after 10 minutes – the highest-scoring first quarter in the club’s BKT EuroCup history. The hosts went on to bag 56 points before the break, this being the best halftime score in the club's history. Reyer held Aris to just 14 points in the third quarter, but the hosts maintained a narrow lead until the final buzzer. The Greek side improved its record to 5-5, with Reyer dropping to 4-6.

Bryce Jones stood out with 20 points and a career-high 12 assists. Danilo Andjusic and Amine Noua netted 12 points each, with Arnoldas Kulboka adding 11. Ky Bowman paced Reyer with a career-high 21 points, and RJ Cole recorded 20 in a losing effort.

Retin Obasohan led the winners with 16 points. Marcis Steinbergs added 13, Gustav Knudsen had 11 while Louis Olinde got 10 for Manresa. David Skara led Cedevita with 16 points. Umoja Gibson added 15, Aleksej Nikolic had 11 while DJ Stewart got 10 for the guests. Manresa led 23-15 at the end of the first quarter and extended its lead to 56-38 early in the second half to take full control of the game until the final buzzer.

Besiktas claimed a hard-fought overtime 94-85 win over Lietkabelis at BJK GAIN Sports Complex to improve to 8-2 in Group B, while Lietkabelis dropped to 2-8. Besiktas controlled the momentum in the first half, while Lietkabelis responded in the third quarter with a strong comeback led by Michael Flowers and Kristian Kullamae. The fourth quarter turned into a back-and-forth battle, and with 30 seconds left, Besiktas trailed by five. Vitto Brown knocked down a crucial three-pointer, and Yigit Arslan’s late free throws forced overtime, where Besiktas regained control and closed out the game.

Ante Zizic led Besiktas with 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Jonah Matthews added 14 points and 4 assists. Brown contributed 13 points and 6 rebounds, Berk Ugurlu finished with 12 points and 4 assists, and Devon Dotson posted 10 points and 6 assists. Lietkabelis was led by Flowers, who had 27 points, 7 rebounds and a career-high 35 PIR. Kullamae scored 18 points, and Paulius Danusevicius added 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Hapoel Jerusalem recorded an 86-76 victory over Hamburg on Tuesday at Toto Holon Arena in the first EuroCup game played in Israel in over two years. Jerusalem led from start to finish, but Hamburg kept it close for long stretches. It was 16-15 after 7 minutes and 57-53 late in the third quarter. Jerusalem pulled away to lead by as many as 19 in the fourth quarter before a later Hamburg push.

Jerusalem’s guards led the way as the team improved to 8-2 to remain atop Group A. Cassius Winston scored 21 off the bench, Khadeen Carrington netted 19 and reigning EuroCup MVP Jared Harper contributed 17. Dmytro Skapintsev posted 8 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks for the victors. Zacharie Perrin posted 16 points and 8 boards and Devon Daniels also scored 16 for last-placed Hamburg, which fell to 0-10.

Chemnitz fought back to defeat Panionios at Messe Chemnitz on Tuesday night, 73-68. Chemnitz found an early lead, but couldn’t seize the opportunity to widen the gap dramatically. Some major plays by Jaylen Hands toward the end of the half meant that Panionios headed to the locker rooms with a three-point advantage. The visitors were able to hold on to the lead quite comfortably until the final few minutes, when Chemnitz put together a comeback run. With just over a minute remaining, Corey Davis Jr. drained a corner three to put the hosts ahead yet again. Chemnitz saw the game out at the line and finished the job.

Amadou Sow played the starring role, adding 10 rebounds to his 19-point performance. Elsewhere Kevin Yebo, Nike Sibande and Corey Davis Jr. finished on double-digit scoring to inspire the fightback victory. Jaylen Hands’s 19 points weren’t enough to get the job done for Panionios. The disappointing loss moves Ilias Zouros’s team to 1-9 in bottom place and makes it nine consecutive defeats, while Chemnitz improves to 4-6.

Trento pulled off a major upset in its fight for the playoffs by rallying from a nightmare start to beat Group B leader Bourg 73-91 on the road. Trento fell behind 21-5 in the first 5 minutes and answered with a 2-23 run to take the lead, which grew to 14 points in the first half. Bourg scored 13 straight points early in the second half to pull within one point, but Trento never let the hosts take the lead, weathering the storm and even pushing the cushion to 21 points.

Trento, which lost 48-79 to Bourg at home back in Round 1, has won back-to-back games on the road for a 5-5 record, including a 4-2 mark away from home. Andrej Jakimovski tied his career high with 30 points to go with 7 rebounds and 10 fouls drawn for a club-record index rating of 43. Peyton Aldridge scored 15 points and DeVante Jones added 14 points and 6 assists. Bourg suffered its first home loss of the season for an 8-2 record, despite Both Gach scoring 20 points and Adam Mokoka chipping in 12 points.
