Cedevita names Simone Pianigiani as its new head coach

Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana has confirmed the arrival of head coach Simone Pianigiani on a three-year contract. Pianigiani takes the place of Miro Alilovic on the Cedevita bench, with Alilovic having led the team on an interim basis following the departure of Jurica Golemac in March 2023. Last season, Cedevita won just three games of its 18 games in the 7DAYS EuroCup. Pianigiani last coached the Beijing Ducks in the 2020-21 season, but he has acted as a team consultant for the Chinese team over the last few years. The 54-year-old has coached 180 games in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, split across five seasons with Montepaschi Siena (2007-12), one campaign with Fenerahce Beko Istanbul (2012-13) and two with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan (2017-19).
