Coach Lakovic, Gran Canaria: 'We controlled the game'

Gran Canaria head coach Jaka Lakovic:
"The first half and the third quarters were good, defensively we were solid. We didn’t give up fastbreak points and we protected the offensive rebound...
With a 22-point lead we somehow stopped playing, our young guys made some mistakes which is normal. They [Hamburg] tried to get back into the game with a lot of contact and they managed to get back but we controlled the game. Every day somebody can step up and today our big guys were present and protected the rim. In offense, they had good finishing around the basket and gave us big help."
Veolia Towers Hamburg head coach Raoul Korner:
"They are a very high-quality team and they proved that tonight. In the first half, we played a little too shy, we could have stepped on their toes a little more. We did that towards the end of the third quarter and in the fourth, we were right up there with them, but we needed more than a solid game.
"We played a solid game but not more and that was not enough. We couldn’t protect the paint and overall we should have been more aggressive. If we are not allowed to run, we have problems to score, that’s not a secret anymore. Our offense looked pretty good today but you have to be very precise against a team like this as they don’t make many mistakes.
"We got a couple of good looks that we didn’t convert into baskets and they don’t give you too many of those. You have to be at a very high percentage and we didn’t execute sharp enough to get enough chances."
Gran Canaria center Khalifa Diop:
"We played good pick-and-roll defense and also did a good job with defensive and offensive rebounds. I stayed focused on the little details, helping everybody protect the paint and mostly rebounds."
