Paris Basketball secured its first-ever home win in the 7DAYS EuroCup on Wednesday night after grabbing an 87-84 victory over Veolia Towers Hamburg at Halle Georges Carpinter. This triumph moves Paris up to 4-2, while Hamburg is now 2-4 on the season.
Paris leans on strong third quarter to beat Hamburg, 87-84
Six Paris players had a double-digit scoring night against Hamburg, but Amar Gegic and Kyle Allman led the way with 18 and 16 points, respectively. Allman was scoreless at halftime, but he exploded in the third quarter to put Paris in control of the game. Yet, the man everyone will be talking about afterwards is Ismael Kamagate, who had a 12-point, 19-rebound double-double. His tally of 19 rebounds is tied for the third highest-ever total in a 7DAYS EuroCup game. Yoeli Child scored a team-high 17 points for Hamburg, while Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann recorded a double-double after finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Paris was slow getting out of the blocks and trailed for the entirety of the first quarter. Hamburg opened up a lead as big as 13 points, 7-20, before the hosts pulled it back a little, 12-22, after the first 10 minutes of play. Despite having just nine players available on Wednesday night, Hamburg took advantage of Paris's shooting struggles to open up a 20-point lead, 14-34, at the 7:15-minute mark in the second quarter. Paris ended up going into halftime down 10, 33-43, after a smart inbound play led to Juhann Begarin scoring a two-pointer, but the hosts needed Allman to step up in the second half. With the first two quarters in the books, Allman had a total of 0 points. Meanwhile, Kamagate was already on his way towards getting a double-double after having 8 points and 11 rebounds at the break. Having had the chance to reset, the Paris players came out particularly motivated in the third quarter, blowing Hamburg away by outscoring the visitors 34-15. In particular, Allman came to the fore with 12 points in the first 4:23 minutes, with the last of those points giving Paris the lead, 49-48. Paris continued its momentum into the start of the fourth quarter, going 72-60 ahead thanks to an Allman three-pointer, but Hamburg continued to stay in the game and made things particularly interesting in the final couple of minutes. The visitors twice drew level – 84-84 with 1:35 remaining and 86-86 with 0:31 left – but a free throw from Allman and another rebound by Kamagate, his 19th of the night, ensured that Paris grabbed its first win this season at Halle Georges Carpinter.
