Manresa brings back big man Pierre Oriola

BAXI Manresa bolstered its frontcourt by inking center Pierre Oriola for the remainder of the season, the club announced on Friday. Oriola (2.08 meters, 33 years old) arrives from Fuerza Regia Monterrey, where he averaged 5.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 27 Mexican League games this season in helping the team win the title. Oriola started his professional career with Manresa during the 2009-10 season and played there until 2013. He went on to play for Huesca, made his BKT EuroCup debut with Baloncesto Sevilla and helped Valencia Basket win the Spanish League in 2017.
Oriola spent the prime of his career with FC Barcelona, where he played for five seasons and became the team captain. He helped the club win two Spanish League championships and four Spanish Cups, as well as reaching the 2021 EuroLeague Championship Game. Oriola has also played for Lleida and Basquet Girona in Spain and for AEK Athens in Greece. His last stint with Manresa came during the 2023-24 season, in which he averaged 3.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in 30 games.
The big man has also been a member of the Spanish national team, which he helped to win a gold medal in the 2019 Basketball World Cup, as well as a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2017. In 142 EuroLeague career games with Barca, Oriola averaged 5.4 points and 3.2 rebounds. In his previous 64 EuroCup games with Sevilla and Manresa, Oriola averaged 8.5 points and 3.3 rebounds.
