The German side put an end to a four-game losing streak
Ulm thrashes Panionios to find its stride again

ratiopharm ulm badly needed to end its losing streak... And it did so in style.
Ulm thrashed last-placed Panionios Cosmorama Travel Athens 69-94 on Wednesday night to improve its record to 5-6 in Group B. Ulm put an end to its unpleasant four-game losing streak, where it lost each game by double digits, and got back into playoff contention with seven games to play, while at the same time sending Panionios to its 10th consecutive loss.
"I am satisfied. We’ve been on the other side of this in the EuroCup, so it’s good to get a win on the road," said Ulm head coach Ty Harrelson.
The game itself was not much of a contest. Ulm led from start to finish, scoring the first 9 points of the game, and the first 11 points of the second quarter. It helped the visitors open a 20-point lead, 17-37. Interestingly, Ulm never allowed the hosts to get closer than 18 points, with the margin skyrocketing to as many as 34 points early in the fourth quarter.
“I thought Mark Smith and Tobias Jensen really controlled the tempo of the game from the beginning”, explained Harrelson.
Mark Smith paced Ulm with 21 points, while Tobias Jensen collected 14 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds,
But they were not the only contributors. Christian Sengfelder scored 18, while Justin Simon, in his third game with the team, had 12 points and 7 rebounds. Meanwhile, Chris Ledlum, in action for the first time since Round 6, had 4 points. Ledlum is the team’s top scorer with 16.0 points per game.
“I thought the tempo was good. I thought we moved the ball well. We found some open shots and some early transition points”, said Harrelson.
“Since Justin Simon has arrived we played much better basketball as a team on both sides, and then to get Chris Ledlum back, it gives us another offensive threat. Hopefully we can start hitting our stride again. We started out really well, hit a rough patch, and now we start to play better basketball.
Ulm now has the same record as the sixth-place fellow German side Chemnitz Niners.
