Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul announced on Friday that it has parted ways with coach Aleksandar Djordjevic after one season together. Djordjevic, 54, led Fenerbahce to the Turkish League title this season, downing Anadolu Efes Istanbul in the finals. Djordjevic, however, could not leads Fenerbahce to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague playoffs, finishing the regular season in 12th place with a 10-18 record. Djordjevic also took Fenerbahce to the Turkish Cup, losing against Efes.

Djordjevic joined Fenerbahce from Virtus Segafredo Bologna, which he helped lift the Italian League trophy for the first time in 20 years last season. He has also coached AX Armani Exchange Milan and Benetton Treviso of Italy, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens of Greece, FC Bayern Munich of Germany, and the Serbian national team. Djordjevic won the German Cup with Bayern in 2018 and led Serbia to respective silver medals at the 2014 World Cup, the 2016 Olympic Games and EuroBasket 2017.
Djordjevic is considered as one of the best European point guards ever. He led Partizan NIS Belgrade to its only EuroLeague title in 1992, hitting the game-winning triple.
