Olympiacos stays perfect Greek League by beating Iraklis

Olympiacos Piraeus extended its unbeaten run in the Greek League to 5–0 after a 103–87 home victory over Iraklis Thessaloniki at Peace and Friendship Stadium on Sunday. The Reds overcame a slow start to dominate the game and remain alone at the top of the standings.

Sasha Vezenkov led all scorers with 27 points on 10-of-12 two-point shooting, Donta Hall added 23 on a perfect shooting night, Evan Fournier netted 14 points on 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc and Thomas Walkup dished 8 assists. Tyler Dorsey and Alec Peters were rested for the game, while Kostas Antetokounmpo remains sidelined with a retinal hematoma. Justin Wright-Foreman and Zaccheus Darko–Kelly scored 20 points each for Iraklis.

Iraklis came out firing, scoring the first 6 points and building an early 14–6 lead behind the hot hand of guard Wright-Foreman. However, Olympiacos quickly responded, with Vezenkov scoring 8 points in the opening quarter to help his team take a 22–18 lead. Thanks to excellent outside shooting, Iraklis held a 22–23 edge after 10 minutes. The second quarter belonged to Hall, who was dominant in the paint. The American big man poured in 19 points in just over 11 minutes, finishing the half with 10-of-10 shooting from two-point range. Olympiacos used his interior presence to build a 50–40 halftime lead.

Iraklis again started strong after the break, scoring the first 6 points of the third quarter and briefly reclaiming the lead at 57–58, thanks to four consecutive three-pointers from Wright-Foreman. But a timeout by Coach Giorgos Bartzokas sparked a response. Giannoulis Larentzakis hit the team’s first three-pointer of the night, followed by triples from Fournier and Vezenkov to restore control at 76–67 heading into the final period. Olympiacos cruised from that point and surpassed the 100-point mark in the closing minutes to seal a comfortable win.
