In a high-scoring showdown that went down to the wire, FC Bayern Munich recorded its fourth victory of the season by beating Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv at Audi Dome on Friday night.
Bayern stops Brown, Maccabi to win at home, 98-89
Bayern won the game 98-89 to improve its record to 4-7. Cassius Winston led the winners with 23 points. Elias Harris added 14 and Isaac Bonga had 12, while Corey Walden, Nick Weiler-Babb and Andreas Obst each had 10 points apiece. Lorenzo Brown finished with 36 points for Maccabi, which dropped to 5-6. Brown was close to setting a new Maccabi club record, shared by Scottie Wilbekin and Sarunas Jasikevicius with 37 points apiece, but he came up just short.

The first quarter saw as many as nine lead changes. At the end of it, Winston hit a three-pointer and Weiler-Babb added a turnaround jumper for a 26-24 Bayern lead. Walden had 5 points in a 7-0 run that gave the hosts a 36-29 advantage. Elias Harris and Bonga stepped up next, and Winston made it a double-digit game, 48-38, near halftime. Brown and Adams got Maccabi within 50-44 at the break. Brown helped Maccabi claw its way back into the contest, 62-58, but Obst followed a triple with a wild four-point play, before getting help from Othello Hunter to give Bayern a 73-67 lead after 30 minutes. An unstoppable performance by Brown kept Maccabi within 90-86 in the penultimate minute of the game, but Winston hit a critical floater and then went 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in crunch time to make sure Bayern cruised to a well-deserved win.
