The guard returns to Istanbul after a year in the EuroLeague with Zalgiris
Bahcesehir brings Matt Mitchell back to EuroCup

Bahcesehir College Istanbul added versatility on the wings by signing guard Matt Mitchell for the coming season, the club announced Monday. Mitchell (1.98 meters, 26 years old) has spent last season in the EuroLeague with Zalgiris Kaunas, but now returns to the EuroCup where he shined for Besiktas Istanbul in the 2023-24 campaign.
Last season, Mitchell made his EuroLeague debut averaging 3.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in a role off the bench in 29 appearances. In the Lithuanian League, he posted 6.7 points and 2.6 rebounds, helping Zalgiris win the championship.
Mitchell made his EuroCup debut in the 2023-24 campaign with Besiktas, when he averaged 12.5 points, 4.9 rebounds in 21 games, helping the team reach the semifinals. He was remembered for his performance in one-and-done quarterfinals, when he recorded 22 points and 6 rebounds during Besiktas’s victory against Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Michell played college ball at San Diego State University from 2017 to 2021. After that he took part in the NBA Summer League with San Antonio but that summer he moved to France to join Strasbourg. He tried again for the NBA playing with Denver in the 2022 Summer League, but he was back to Strasbourg for another season, before joining Besiktas.
