Besiktas GAIN Istanbul bolstered its frontcourt with the signing of center Ismael Kamagate, the club announced Friday.
Kamagate (2.11 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Bertram Yachts Derthona Tortona, where he averaged 8.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 29 Italian League games last season. He started his career in his native France, where he played for Orleans Loiret Basket, INSEP and Paris Basketball.
Kamagate made his EuroCup debut with Paris in the 2022-23 season and averaged 9.2 points in 20 games. He ranked fourth in the competition in rebounds (8.4 ppg.), second in two-point shooting (76.3% 2FG) and led the EuroCup in blocks (1.5 bpg.).
He finished the 2022-23 season with seven double-doubles, trailing only Yoeli Childs of Hamburg Towers, who recorded eight. Kamagate has also played for EA7 Emporio Armani Milan of Italy, where he made his EuroLeague debut, and has been a member of the French national team.
