Bourg blasts Trento, 79-67, to remain perfect at home



Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse won its fifth straight game and improved to 6-0 at home this season after beating Dolomiti Energia Trento 79-67 on Wednesday night at Ekinox. Coach Frederic Fauthoux’s men improved to 9-2 on the season to remain alone in second place in Group B while dropping Trento to 4-7.
Zaccharie Risacher and Isiaha Mike scored 12 points apiece for Bourg, which never trailed after the opening quarter. Bodian Massa added 11 points and Maksim Salash 10. Kamar Baldwin paced Trento with 11 points in defeat.
Bourg takes control in low-scoring start
It took some time for the offenses to settle in with just a single basket scored in the first 6 minutes, during which time the teams combined for 9 turnovers. Despite that, free throws gave Bourg a 5-2 lead. Trento got going with a triple by Baldwin and a three-point play by Myles Stephens to grab a slim lead. Massa scored 4 points in the final minute of the quarter to push Bourg ahead 15-10.
Trento fight back from deep
Bourg slowly added to the advantage it reached double-digits through a Jeremy Morgan score, 25-14. Trento used a 0-6 spurt to more than halve the deficit, but a slam by Risacher kept the hosts in control. A pair of threes by Prentiss Hubb and another by Davide Alviti allowed Trento to get within 33-30. Andrejs Grazulis made it 35-34 at the break.

The hosts look to pull away
The home side protected its slim lead, which could have grown if not for several missed free throws. A jumper by Risacher made it 45-39 midway through the third quarter. Isiaha Mike made Bourg’s first triple of the game with 3 minutes left in the third quarter and then sank free throws to stretch the cushion to 50-41. The scoreboard showed 56-47 at the end of the quarter.
The pace picked up as the teams traded points. Maxime Courby restored a double-digit lead with a layup, 61-50. Risacher nailed a three and Salash scored in transition to extend the difference to 70-56. Jeremy Morgan took over late and made sure Bourg held on for another home win.
