Coach Ocampo pens extension to lead Manresa for three more years

BAXI Manresa has confirmed its long-term commitment to head coach Diego Ocampo, extending his contract until 2028, signaling strong confidence in his leadership and vision, the club announced on Wednesday.
Ocampo, 48, is a Galician coach with extensive experience across Spain and Europe. He joined Manresa for a second stint last summer after previously leading the club to promotion into the ACB in 2018. Now as he enters year two of this tenure, the club has chosen to secure his services for an additional three seasons.
Under Ocampo’s guidance last season, Manresa secured a top-six finish in the Spanish League regular season, advanced to the Basketball Champions League Round of 16, and qualified for the Copa del Rey - a streak of success that earned praise for his ability to blend ambition with stability.
After serving as an assistant to well-known coaches such as Joan Plaza, Pedro Martinez and Aito Garcia Reneses, Ocampo has been on his own since 2014 with stops at UCAM Murcia, Estudiantes Madrid, Joventut Badalona, FC Barcelona (B Team), Zaragoza and Burgos in Spain as well as Frankfurt in Germany and the Czech national team. As an assistant coach, Ocampo twice reached the EuroCup finals, first with Girona in 2008 and then with Sevilla in 2011.
