At 2.14 meters, the center becomes the tallest player in club history
NINERS net German giant Julian Steinfeld

NINERS Chemnitz have added size and long‑term potential to their frontcourt by signing towering German center Julian Steinfeld, the club announced on Friday.
At 2.14 meters, Steinfeld joins Marin Bota as the tallest player ever to wear a Chemnitz jersey, with Georg Voigtmann (2.13 meters) next on the list. The Frankfurt-born Steinfeld (24 years old) inked a one-year deal with an option for a second season.
“Chemnitz is one of the strongest clubs in the BBL. The chance to play internationally and develop here is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’m eager to arrive, train hard and help push the team forward.”
He returns to Germany after five years playing in the United States; he played first at the University of Indiana - Indianapolis (NCAA‑2) and then last season at IU Indy. Injuries limited the big man to just 1.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in six games last season. Now recovered, he is currently playing for Germany at the World University Games.
Steinfeld comes to Chemnitz with strong rebounding and shot-blocking instincts developed in Germany’s U19 system with the Frankfurt Skyliners. He is now slated to make his BKT EuroCup debut with Chemnitz.
