Panathinaikos OPAP Athens announced on Tuesday the addition of young Nikos Chougkaz for the next four years, even if he will be sent on loan right away to see more playing time in Ionikos Nikaias, the team where he also played last season.

Hougaz (2.08 meters, 20 years old) is a forward that started as a player in Peristeri but made his pro debut with Panionios in 2018-19, averaging 3.4 points and 1.1 rebounds. In the summer of 2019 he went to the United States, playing college ball with Northwestern State. He finished the year averaging 9.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
After that, Hougaz joined Ionikos last season and he averaged 10.6 points and 6.3 rebounds in the Greek League with solid shooting averages and that earned him the Best New Player award in the competition. Hougaz has also been a member of the U19 Greek national team.
