Turk Telekom Ankara handed Hapoel Tel Aviv its first loss of the 7DAYS EuroCup season, 89-77, on Wednesday at Ankara Spor Salonu in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score indicates. Axel Bouteille led six Turk Telekom scorers in double figures with 18 points and Jerian Grant notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists.

Tyrique Jones was a force inside for the winners with 13 points, Erkan Yilmaz scored 12 and Ridvan Oncel and Nathan Sestina contributed 11 each. Jordan McRae paced Hapoel with 21 points, Tomer Ginat added 20 and Xavier Munford tallied 16 points and 6 assists in defeat. The result left both teams with 2-1 records in Group B.

Hapoel had 3 steals in the first 3 minutes to jump to a 2-10 start. After an early Turk Telekom timeout, the hosts settled down and behind Yilmaz and Tony Taylor went on an 11-0 run to take the lead. McRae free throws ended the first quarter at 24-21. Turk Telekom extended the margin to double figures early in the second quarter and continued to add to it with the difference reaching 55-40 at halftime. Little changed in the third quarter, despite the best efforts of Ginat, as Turk Telekom continued to pour on the points with the lead reaching 19. The scoreboard showed 73-56 through three quarters. The hosts put the game away by scoring the first 6 points of the fourth quarter and the differenced reached 25 points as Turk Telekom cruised to victory.
