ALBA Berlin continued to play the role of a spoiler to perfection, sinking 13 three-pointers on just 21 attempts in defeating visiting Olympiacos Piraeus 90-75 on Thursday night in the German capital.

It was the fourth consecutive win for ALBA and improved its record to 11-16 on the season, while Olympiacos remained in fourth place in the standings despite its record dropping to 16-10. ALBA took the lead for good in the third quarter, taking control of the game before blowing the game wide open in the fourth. Maodo Lo scored a career-high 27 points and had 7 assists and 5 rebounds for the winners. Jaleen Smith netted 15 points and Oscar da Silva collected 10 points plus 7 rebounds in the victory. Sasha Vezenkov paced Olympiacos with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals, Hassan Martin scored 17, Tyler Dorsey had 11 points and Kostas Slouas dished 10 assists in the losing effort.

Lo opened the scoring with a triple, but baskets were few and far between early on. Olympiacos went inside but was without a basket for more than 3 minutes to open the game. ALBA grabbed an 11-6 lead behind a fastbreak led by Lo and Smith. However, Fall had a pair of baskets at the rim, while Thomas Walkup and Vezenkov each made triples to give the Reds an 11-14 lead. Tamir Blatt answered with a three-pointer before Vezenkov made a floater to give Olympiacos a 16-17 lead after 10 minutes.
Both teams worked inside at the start of the second quarter, with Johannes Thiemann and Lo adding to ALBA's tally, but Martin scored Olympiacos's first 6 points of the quarter and Georgios Printezis nailed a three-pointer to give the visitors a 22-26 edge. The two teams kept struggling to find buckets, but Lo sank a floater and a step-back-triple for ALBA to restore the lead, 29-28. Smith followed with a step-back-three of his own before da Silva fed Thiemann for a fastbreak dunk. da Silva finished the half with a three-pointer to make it 37-30 at the break.
Dorsey got the visitors going from the start of the third quarter, and with the help of Vezenkov and Kostas Papanikolaou, put together a 2-10 run that put Olympiacos in front, 39-40. But Christ Koumadje converted an alley-oop slam and Lo nailed a transition triple to restore the hosts' lead. Dorsey scored 4 more points, but ALBA stepped up defensively while Thiemann, Ben Lammers and da Silva extended the lead before a three-pointer from Tim Schneider opened a 55-46 margin. Olympiacos stopped the bleeding through Fall, and Vezenkov's 4 points helped make it 57-51 after 30 minutes.
Sloukas fed Martin twice inside to get the Reds within 4 points, but Sikma beat the shot clock with a triple for a 62-55 advantage. Smith's three-pointers followed by da Silva's three-point play made it 68-59. The visitors answered with Dorsey inside and Vezenkov's shot from the outside, but Lo nailed a triple and Lammers a long jumper on the other end, for a 75-66 margin midway through the fourth. A three-pointer from Smith after a timeout opened the first double-digit lead of the night, 78-66. Sloukas fed Martin again to give the Reds some hope, but Sikma, Smith and Lo extended it to 17 points to secure the outcome.
